Hi guys
So SD sounds absolutely amazing but I find that if I load ANY preset kit then draw in a beat on the MIDI grid and press play without altering anything (all drums at default values) I find that the cymbals always need at least 9-12db of reduction each (hi-hats especially, sometimes up to 13db) to make them sit in the mix. This is with all genres I record – rock, metal and some light pop stuff.
Is this the case with everyone else? If I leave them default then the mix is basically a cymbal wash with every other instrument being completely drowned out.
Just wondering if I’m doing something wrong? It’s obvious I’d have to tweak anyway but I never expected it to be this drastic!
Thanks in advance
Not experiencing that here. Wondering if your listening environment may be emphasizing certain frequencies.

No it’s not that – I did notice that there are mixer settings for “Default”, “Metal Foundry” and “Prebussed” – If I select a kit for example DevKit (The Devin Townsend one) it sounds incredibly tinny and only gets worse if I select any of the 3 mixer settings mentioned before. Should I be selecting the kit then not touching these settings? (I’m using the metal foundry pack only as I don’t have enough hard drive space for the default SD3 libraries)
Thanks
