Cymbal Ring Out

When playing a beat via the keyboard, sometimes cymbals seem to randomly clench during playback.  If I play a ride on the quarter downbeats and a crash on the ones, sometimes the crash clenches and doesn’t ring out…but if I move the crash midi note left or right…it does ring out.  Also, when I click the midi notes, the cymbals ring out normally and sound good…but during playback they clench.  Sometimes the ride does the same thing…clenching during playback.  I have added no automation or velocity changes and have not selected a clenched sample.  Very frustrating.

Solved.  Aftertouch data was inadvertently being received.

Can I ask how you found it/fixed it? I’m having this same problem. Very new to this Toontrack interface and trying to give it a shot, instead of the sequencer on Cubase.

Chris,

if you open your MIDI in the Grid Editor, you have selectable lanes for Velocity, CC data and Aftertouch. Please check for Aftertouch data in unwanted places.
