I think it’s been like that for a long time (and is intended), that song track playback is stopped if you start playing a groove elsewhere, for example in the song creator or in the groove browser.

However, the play button should not stay pressed, and I can’t reproduce that. Screenshot? In that state, do you need to click once or twice on the button to start the song track again? Perhaps you have “Allow Window to Be Resized” on for SD3 in Cubase (11)? There are some issues that windows sometimes don’t get properly repainted with that option on.

Hi Olaf, thank you very much for responding – i made video of what is going on – sorry for quality but I used phone cam.  One issue i know for sure isn’t the same is the delay before sync – I’ve rolled back cubase 11 pro to previous update still the same outcome.

I used to be able to just auditioning song creator clips by clicking on them with no transport commands needed. the clip would play till i clicked stop and the original midi would instantly play-  nothing has changed hardware wise .

I see i was wrong about saying the main transport being in active state ( blue) while audition clip was active -that is not the case- my bad.  I must have been looking at delay before drums would sync up.

    thanks again for any insight

The delay at the start when you press play could be because of Cubase – it’s hard to see in the video but I think the position numbers in Cubase at the bottom of the screen did not change until the same time that the playhead in SD3 started moving?

But I’m sure that it has never been a feature in SD3 that song track playback would automatically resume when you stop auditioning a song creator clip.

Thanks for taking a look, the position numbers in Cubase are moving for almost 4 beats before the playhead for SD3 starts – i have attached a hopefully clearer and tight shot of this happening. I’m sure you are right about the auditioning start and stop feature – this new delay in sync must be confusing me more than normal 😉  Maybe this is a system performance or buffering issue with vsts or a windows update – i don’t know.. but there was not this type of delay before, as that would have really stood out.

Thanks for your input and ill try to chase this down

hmmm.. i opened up EZ Bass vst instrument and it is also not syncing to cubase for about 4 seconds along with SD3 on playback now too.

What buffer size are you using?

The bar numbers in SD3 and Cubase do not match in your video. Could you post a screenshot of the Project Setup window (in Cubase) please?

If you start Cubase playback at the start of the project, does SD3 start playing together with Cubase or are some bars at the beginning skipped in SD3?

Does this happen in new projects as well?

ASIO Buffer?  is 64 – this is what i’ve  always used, with guitar vsts its what i need to stick with.Screenshot-2021-10-20-105138

bars not matching up:   Yes, they don’t, I had inserted a couple bars in front of that particular cubase project. Here is a different one with bars matched up https://photos.app.goo.gl/Va69UNtWJSsGjy7Z6

if i play at start ( as in bar 1) sd and ez will play as they have a couple measures to load up i guess?

this happens with new projects too

Thanks again Olaf, I have started a support ticket with toontrack now – just focusing on the new sync up delay issue, they already responded and i wouldn’t want to waste your time if they are on it now – take care brendan

    Hi Olof,

Support has said that this is a bug in SD3 3.2.6 with Cubase
I just wanted to inform support that I’ve rolled back SD3 to 3.2.4 and now pre roll syncs again.
While this fixed SD3, EZ Bass still did not, so I’ve rolled it back to 1.0.9 and now it syncs during pre roll too.

This pre roll sync drop issue seems to be in both products,  so if that could be documented maybe that would be helpful.

Thanks again, I appreciate your help and communication in figuring out what was actually occurring.

Thanks for the info! The issue has been added to “known issues” (next to the release notes).
