Hi, I just received my ez drummer copy with the metal machine expansion.
Now, I’m trying to do some recordings with this set-up in cubase 6, in conjunction with real cymbals and mics.
My set-up is;
– 2 bass drums with Roland kick triggers.
– 1 snare drum with Ddrum tom trigger.
– 3 roland tom pads.
these go into the alesis DM5 and the Alesis DM5 goes to my soundcard midi in ( TC impact twin)
I’m running at 41. khz (16 bit)
Furthermore I have 2 overheads going into a mixer going into the soundcard stereo in.
Well everything is set up, triggers are responding (with rediculous latency) to my hits.
I press record, play along with a metronome and have cubase 6 in the BPM of the track.
Now, I get to editing this stuff, attempting to compensate the latency, I find a very odd problem.
It seems like when I have a part in sync, only a smal part syncs, and the rest is even more out of sync.
So the problem seems to be that the sync varies over time, which I have not encountered with anything else while recording via midi in..
The conclussion being I am unable to sync the tracks to the audio (which is in fact in time) of the overheads.
I hear a snaredrum hit, I compensate the entire midi track to be in sync with that snaredrum hit, and 4 seconds later following snare hits are out of sync completely.
Does anyone have ANY idea how to fix this?
I’ve been at it all day and I’m starting to get really frustrated.
I also noticed when I use renoise as a VST host instead of cubase I have no latency at all.
I’ve updated my drivers and everything, I can’t find whats causing it.
Really need some help.
