My OS is Windows 7 (64). I m running Cubase 5.5.3 in 32 bit mode along with EZDrummer in 32 mode. All is fine when I run one instance of EZDrummer.
The problem starts when I load and run a second instance of EZDrummer.
I have no problems editing, recording and working in the project for hours.
I save the the project and close Cubase out.
I come back and boot up Cubase and then load the project.
The project starts loading and then I get a message stating Cubase has stopped working with the following crash info.

1. I just created a new test project. Call it Crash Test
2. Add a midi track
3. add a second midi track
4. Select EZDrummer as the first VST instument
5. assign first EZDrummer VST to first midi track. Drag and drop a midi drum beat from the first EZDrummer (default kit). Load 4 bars of a basic beat.
6. save project as Crash Test and close out project. Cubase is still running.
load an old, different project that has only one EZDrummer VST loaded.
7. play through song and then close out the different/older project.
8. Open test project…. no problems. Now load a second EZDrummer VST instrument and load the Latin Percussion expansion pack.
9. now load some Latin Percussion beats…. four bars. Play through the four bars. Save project as Crash Test_b.
10. Close project…..
11. now open project Crash Test_b.
12. Project opens with Cubase has stopped working with the same error report. Close down Cubase.
13. Boot up Cubase again. Open project Cubase Test that has only one EZDrummer VST instrument loaded.
14. no crash……. and no problems.
What version of EZdrummer?
Are you using a sample rate higher than 44.1kHz?

The latest version of EZDrummer. I like keeping my software updated. I record at 48K.
The latest version of EZDrummer. I like keeping my software updated.
I’m not doubting you, just double checking; what version number appears on your EZdrummer interface?

Aha!!!!!! You have me doubting myself! !! I’m at work (sshhhhhhhh) and no where near my DAW but when I installed all my Toontrack software again I made sure that I installed the intaial software I have and then the updates. That includes all the expansion packs. I can double check in a few hours. I just checked “my software” on your site and it shows that I downloaded the update….. so…. I must have 1.31 installed.
I also read on your site that Windows 7 SP 1 should also be installed. My DAW is not connected to the internet. I will double check what version of EZDrummer I have and install Windows 7 SP 1 when I get home…. will this help. Thanks for taking the time to help me…. second set of eyes/ears always helps!!!
The reason for double checking is because of this from the version 1.3.1 release notes:
fixed in version 1.3.1:
– loading of multiple instances of EZDrummer in a project at sample rate higher than 44.1K
And, from time to time, users install the update but, perhaps, the .dll has been moved manually, the update doesn’t work.

Perfect!!!! Now I know what to do. Thanks a million. I will let you know the results are later on today. Thank you so much for your time!!!
ok… here was the deal. My EZDrummer had a .dll file in two locations. one in a VST folder under “programs” was the updated version of 1.31. The one .dll file in my Cubase VST Plugins folder was the 1.30 version. I could not update the version in Cubase unless I got rid of one of them. I deleted the VST folder and ran the 1.31 update. It updated the the .dll file in Cubase and all is well again. Thanks sooooooooooo much for pointing me in the right direction!!!! Now I can go back to making music. You guys rock!!!
