I keep getting a crash when I use Midi Replace. It works for a time but eventually it crashes Cubase. I can audition the replacement groove about 6 or 7 times then it crashes. I’m using it in sync with Cubase song position.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Hi,
Could you give an example of what you have on the song track and which groove you are trying to use as replacement? You could save an .ezbp (EZbass project), zip it and attach it here. Thanks. A dump file from the crash is also welcome.

Hello Olof,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I’ve attached a crash report and a zip of the EzBass project and also a couple of screenshots.
I only have 3 piano tracks and a track with Superior Drummer in the Cubase project.
The crash happens when I try to replace the midi on a groove in the timeline that’s linked to a looping section of Cubase. Sometimes it happens after around 10 changes, but I’ve just replicated the issue and it didn’t happen until around 25 changes. It’s just frustrating when I’m trying to find a good bass groove to go with a section and this happens.
Thanks
Douglas
Thanks. Are you sure this is the crash log you get from this crash? If so, it looks like the plug-in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/Avid/ProToolsDuet/ProToolsDuetPlugIn.bundle is the cause and not EZbass.

That was the last crash log registered in console.app – are Cubase error logs stored somewhere else?
I’ve just replicated the crash but the log doesn’t appear in console.app
No, it’s quite possible that ProToolsDuet is causing the crashes. The timestamp in the crash log makes sense (?). It crashed in a function called “DisplayFirmwareVersionMismatch”.
Try disabling ProToolsDuet? Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > HAL > Avid and drag the ProToolsDuet folder to the desktop for example (while holding the command key to make it a ‘move’). Then restart the computer.

Thanked by: Douglas KeanThanks Olof – I did as you recommended and although it didn’t fix the issue it did fix an outstanding issue I had with my ProTools Duet always asking to update the firmware on first boot.
On further investigation I don’t think this is an EZBass issue as it happens in another program when I change presets quickly. I think it may be a graphics issue or something else in my system.
Thanks for your help and for being so responsive.
Regards Douglas
