I have 2 kick beats and matching crash & mute cymbals…i.e. boom boom.
The first is Crash 1 on Grid 1/beat 1.
2nd is a Mute Crash (same cymbal).
These overlap the kick beats. Crash/Mute are 127 and Kicks are 110 volume.
BUT… When I lower the volumes on Crash & Mute to 110 (to match Kick volume already at 110) the 1st Crash sustains beyond the mute/beat.
If I only change the Crash volume to 110, but leave the Mute at 127, it still works. BUT…that Mute seems loud. I’m trying to lower this sound.
Is this a Gate issue on the MUTE, where you lower volume to 110, but the Gate is at 127? I’m not sure if I need to do that, or create a gate on the 1st crash to make sure it ends properly…but if I do that, won’t that sound be affected throughout regular sustain crashes?
Otherwise, I could record these beats as separate midi track and overlap…but any help is appreciate.
thanks
