    I guess the combination of SD3 and Logic Pro X is just not working for me.

    Have you tried a Reset & Rescan in the Logic Plug-In Manager?

    Hi John,

    I have not tried that. I honestly don’t even know how to do that, but I’m gonna research it and give it a go.

    Thanks for the advice.

    Out of curiosity, which libraries and presets are you using where the crackling is happening?

    As well, as there any other devices daisychained to your audio interface (or vice versa)?

    Thanks everyone for your responses and suggestions. I think I might have isolated the problem. When Jordan asked which libraries may be problematic it encouraged me to check all my libraries. As it turned out it is related to some libraries but furthermore I think it is related to lack of RAM on my laptop.

    I have purchased some SD3 presets as my main interest with SD3 is to play my E-Kit with the awesome sounds provided by SD3. The first time the crackling and audio drop out happened was with a Hitmaker Library preset I bought. I eventually realized the kit took a little over 9GB of RAM. I went back to the Core Library and all presets were playing just fine, Rooms of Hansa same with a The Cure preset  bought from the same source. I then went to Fields of Rock and when I loaded a Foo Fighters Preset the audio drops started again, the kit was about 8.9 GB of RAM. I figured that was the factor as my laptop has a total of 16GB of RAM and along with Logic, UAD Console, etc is probably maxing out.

    When I played the same presets with less articulations that I didn’t necessarily need and in standalone mode the audio drops stopped happening.

    I guess if I want to play those heavy RAM presets I will need a laptop with more RAM in the future….

    Another option is to load those larger presets/kits in 16 bit rather than 24 bit or cache mode (which requires you to setup the articulations you want ahead of time);

    Cache-16Bit

    I’m gonna try the 16 Bit option as I am still getting cracks and sound drops with Legacy of Rock and Hitmaker SDX on any kit over 7Gb of RAM.
