It’s a simple question. I have a snare drum sound (or any drum for that matter) that I like. I like everything about it…the sound, the room sound, the dynamics…everything. I’ve tried saving it as a user sound and then importing it to another kit…nope sounds different. I want theat EXACT SAME SOUND with all it’s acoutriments in another kit. How can I achieve this for my new kit? I created a workaround by recording the sound, sampling it, and the loading it as a new sound in the new kit, but there has to be a better soulution that that…please help!
Hi,
if you want to load a snare from a preset into a kit from the same library, it’s no problem. You just select the Instrument in question in the interface, then click the small down arrow to the right of the preset name and ‘Select Parts…’. You can also press down Alt/Option when you click a preset name to bring up the ‘Select Parts…’ window.
In that window you can select to import Drums, Mixer and Macro controls from that preset. All Instruments or just the selected one(s).
If the Instrument you wish to import is from another library, then it isn’t possible to import the same way. Different libraries not only have different amount of Instruments but have different mic setups, different rooms and are engineered differently so you wouldn’t get exactly the same sound no matter what, depending on the mics, bleed, room and processing.
What you can try, apart from saving an Instrument as a User Instrument, is to check the Mixer what makes up the sound and save each Mixer channel as a User preset in the Channel Effects menu in the top left of the Mixer.
