    *might be a double post

“What I want to do is copy the new file”

-Hold option on Mac, click and drag.
    or
-Right click, select copy, right click “immediately” after your block, right click, select “paste all”.

“and if I drop it incorrectly, it covers over parts of the previous loop”
-Zoom out (with your mouse wheel or with the zoom tools) so there are less Hash Marks in the Songtrack Ruler. Midi blocks snap to hash marks. (this goes with pasting a file as well, the file will paste to the closest hash mark which is why you might be overwriting your previous file in the Songtrack)

“if I remove it then the previous loop is damaged”
-Mouse over the end that got destroyed, your cursor will change, drag the destroyed portion of your midi files back to it’s original length.

“How do you copy one or more sections”

Drag a marque around your section. Then see your first questions answers.

You’re a perfect candidate for my videos, which I rarely pitch here. Look in my signature (or read the manual throughout) and consider watching my Recording/Editing, and Songtrack videos.

I hope this helps and welcome to EZD2. You’ll get the hang of it and you’ll be psyched.
