Copy and paste help

When I drop a bassline into the timeline and I copy and try to paste it says paste to the start of playhead

Why can’t I paste into empty space??

Hello, I have a different copy and paste issue need help with.

How to copy and paste a section from one song to another, different song. Originally I wrote separate sections for verse chorus bridge etc. because my songs are progressive rock with lots of time signature changes and it was difficult to keep all the sections lined up correctly.

But now that I’m ready for mixing and need to send a DI track of the entire song for the mixer, so I need to combine the sections together. I tried to copy paste by opening the new file but it seems to disable the copy paste function and limit to only that track.

Is there another way to do this?
