Controlling EZD3 with Logic Pro Drummer tracks

I love the ease of making drum tracks with the Logic Drummer, but I want to use the sounds of EZ Drummer3. Can I just route the drummer track in Logic to the EZD3 instrument, or is some kind of MIDI mapping required to get the most out of it (drum articulations, etc)?

There are essentially two methods of using Logic Pro X’s Drummer Track to control what EZDrummer plays…

1) convert Drummer Track regions to MIDI by [Option] dragging the Drummer track to an Instrument Track on which EZDrummer resides;  described here by Apple Support. 
This method allows tweaks to be made to the MIDI for fine-tuning & personalizing the performance.

or
2) [Shift]+[Option] drag Drummer Track regions to an Instrument Track on which EZDrummer resides.
described here by “Logic Pro for Smarties”
This method allows changes made on the Drummer Track to automatically & immediately affect changes to what EZDrummer plays.
Using Method #1 requires that changes made on the Drummer Track to be reconverted to MIDI, losing any tweaks made to the MIDI previously.
