    It doesn’t have one.

Depending on which preset is chosen, you may or may not have a compressor. When you find a preset that does, you will not have typical compressor controls. It is very simplified.

Superior Drummer has quality compressors to add and use as one would expect. Or you route your EZdrummer channels from the mixer tab out to your DAW and add your own 3rd party compressor.

You should probably have that stuff in your DAW and that’s where you would probably add it.  Use the Mixer tab in EZ Drummer to assign drums to specific outputs and then add effects (insert one or more audio effect plugins) to the drum(s) you want. I never use the reverb in EZD because there’s a lot more power and flexibility in the DAW. Ditto for compression, gating, or other effects.

Thanks all for your replies. Will try out the various options.

However, maybe I should clarify that I am running my drums in a live/recording studio setup with other live instruments. And that’s why I wanted the drums as two separate channels in my DL16s Mackie mixer. This will allow each instrument (drums, guitar, etc)  to be controlled using the AUX channels as in-ears monitoring for live/silent jamming.

I used to run the EZD3 directly from the Mac to DL16 using the Return Channels but that affected my ability to have separate audio track channels from the drums. It was rather limiting.

And if I were to run all the instruments through Logic from the DL16 to the MAC, I can have separate channels for the drums and instruments all controlled in Logic… with full controls to compressor and gate etc… but that would not allow individual musicians to control the mix for their in-ears.

Trying to figure out a proper workflow to get the best of everything here.

Sorry if I seem to be asking too much… just trying to figure out options which will work best here.

I wonder how many drummers we see playing live have compressors and gates on their kits.

That’s not entirely true. You can route instruments or groups into their own track stack, and then feed auxiliary channels off of the stems to go to separate mixers, allowing the musicians to control their mix.

Other than that, it sounds like you might have needed Superior Drummer for the stuff you are doing.
