Bear with me please, I want go through what I normally do and what I want (or think I want) to do to improve.
My process now is:
- Download a tab file from a guitar tabs website that has all instruments of a song I want to cover.
- Load that into Tux software and export the drums only to a midi file.
- Insert Ezdrummer2 multitrack into my daw, assign a kit and rout to individual tracks.
- Import the midi file I created into the main ezdrummer2 track.
- Apply various plugins and mixing techniques I am learning from youtube onto the individually routed drum component tracks.
- Place an ezmix2 drum bus preset on the main ezdrummer2 track.
What I think or want to do:
- do 1 and 2 and 3 from above.
- Somehow export each individual drum component to an audio file. (Not sure if this is better but I am watching stuff of people who say to do this)
- Then make tracks in your daw with the imported wave files outside of ezdrummer2. So you have a track as if it was recorded from a live kit at this point.
- Now do #5 from above
- bus all these tracks to a drum main. Put a exmix2 drum bus preset on that.
- Set a separate track for parallel compression and reverb and send the drum main through them.
Any thoughts or suggestion (or tell me I’m completely off base if I am) would be appreciated.
(sorry if this post is in wrong place)
Thank you in Advance, Paul.
