Looking to incorporate edrums into my acoustic kit. I have NO interest in recording. Just live sound…gigs…etc. Looking to use my edrums as accessories, extra sounds, drums. I just picked up the Latin Percussion kit and going to get FX kit. Please tell me there is a way to mix that kit with other kits? Would very much like to be able to add an extra bass drum, rim clicks, dub drops, Latin percussion and other sounds as I play using Alesis DM10 MKII Pro kit. Thanks…
Hi,
EZdrummer 2 is limited when it comes to combining sounds from different library types, like the included drum libraries and the Latin Percussion EZX.
In Superior Drummer 3, you can combine and tailor to your heart’s content, even with different library types.
Exchanging e.g. a Kick drum, Snare drum or HH from other drums EZX libraries is no problem in EZdrummer 2 but the Latin Percussion is a different type, so there’s only a few instruments that can be exchanged for Latin Percussion instruments in the included libraries (Cymbals, IIRC).
This does depend on the currently loaded EZX, though so an EZX like the Action! EZX has more interchangeable slots in common with the Latin Percussion EZX.
If you have some kind of live host for EZdrummer 2, you may consider loading 2 instances and only load the instruments you actually use in each instance.

Thanked by: MercerThanks for the timely response. I think I understand. With ED2, can I replace a BD with a SD, a Floor Tom with a crash cymbal, regardless of the libraries? Or should I move up to SD3? Can I completely customize my kit in SD3? I guess that’s what I would like to do. Not use the edrums as a standard kit, but to give me all sorts of options.
Again thanks for you help.
Hi,
no, you cannot switch out kit pieces freely in EZD2; to switch out a Kick for a Kick, Snare for a Snare, Tom for a Tom, etc yes but when it comes to special instruments for regular drum kit pieces or a Kick for a Snare – no.
In SD3 you can completely custom edit or create your kit. You can also stack sounds on articulations – meaning you can add e.g. an FX sound to a Tom rim.
You can Import audio files to create your own kit pieces from your own samples or stack with existing; the list goes on.
I recommend you check out the videos over at the Toontrack YouTube channel to help you decide whether you should upgrade or not.

John
