I recorded an acoustic drum kit with triggers connected to everything but the HiHat and symbols. I used two condenser mics on the cymbals and a sm57 dynamic mic on the hihat.
The triggers went to my DTX502 and then to my PC to cake walk then to SD3. Meanwhile, the snare, kick and three toms were captured into a single midi file in SD3.
The hihat mic recorded nicely. So, I dragged that into the tracker feature in SD3. It did a nice job converting it to midi and I assigned it to a SD3 hihat. However, I don’t know how to add the midi hihat to the midi file in SD3 that has the snare, kick and three toms. How to I combine these?
Thank you!
You can copy the region containing the hi-hat and then paste it on the regions containing the drums.
ToonTrack just released a video outlining this:

he is correct.
Copy the midi into a new track then right click it and choose copy, then go to the track you want to add it to, right click paste-choose parts to paste (combine / add to track)
Thanks. I tried this, but must be doing something wrong.

Did you right-click the target region and select “Paste on Selected Block” (or something like that)? I use this all the time to come up with new grooves. Works like a charm.

I get no option for “Past on selected block”. This is frustrating. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. This is SD3 I have seen videos on SD2 work.
