Hi there,
I was trying to bring chords from the guitar to the piano. A chord for instance on the guitar is a B sus2sus4 /E
1. When using the wheel I am not able to specify a sus4. Should I add a -5/11 instead?
2. When specifying the sus2, I am not able to specify any other characteristic of the like, or do I have to (on a mac) cmd-click the items?
I know, its a tideous task to single click-and-click the chords (thats why I bought a maudio midi controller today), but I sometimes like this very theoretical approach to explore new sound(s).
Question is: Is it possible to combine the elements from the chordwheel (and the detail section)?
You should be able to achieve that by using the clicking on the on the ‘sus 4′ (will add the ’11’) and then clicking on the ‘9’ (will add the ‘2’). Change the bass note to ‘E’. You will end up with Bsus2add11/E.
If you really need the sus4 (the ‘E’ in the same octave as the ‘C#’ in the sus2) you can use your MIDI editor once you drag the MIDI into your host. I’m not a big fan of those cluster chords personally. The E and the C# in the same octave sounds muddy to me so using the octave higher E sounds better.

Wow, that was quick!
Thank you very much. That helped a lot. I was able to construct the chord.
And yeah, those muddy cluster chords are probably something typical for a guitar with its limited range of notes. I am thankful for the tip to span the tones over more octaves to de-mud them. Will definitely help me to make it sound more “piano”.
