I’m trying to figure out the best drive to put my SD3 library on.
My two choices are…
1.) A dedicated internal 7200rpm 250gb SATA drive.
2.) My external USB 2.0 SSD drive, which is also my audio drive for Studio One sessions.
The questions are, would the external USB2 drive be faster to load than the SATA 7200rpm platter drive? and, Would using my audio drive to store the Superior libraries be an issue?

Hi,
if the SSD enclosure is USB 2, the internal 7200 rpm drive would provide faster loading times. Having your libraries on an external drive has other benefits like being more portable and not having to reinstall all your libraries in case you need to wipe the system drive or have a system drive crash.
I have gone the extreme route with my M.2 NVME SSD and bought a really big and fast one, along with a Thunderbolt 3 enclosure, which makes my very large kits and sessions load in seconds rather than minutes. It costs but the amount of time it has saved me since I invested in it is huge.
