I’ve seen a couple of threads, but so far they are not quite on the mark for me. As a long-time user of EZ drummer, I finally got a new DAW, and installed EZ drummer, updated it, authorized it, and it’s working flawlessly. However, I later discovered that the install did not present me with the option to put the sample content on my sample drive (my old daw only had one HD, so it was not an issue). Anyway, I keep adding midi packs, etc., and 3rd party products like Groove Monkee, etc., but the only way it works is to put it on my system drive–unacceptable to me at this point. So in trying to move/copy sample content to my sample drive doesn’t work, because the content is not on the EZ drummer groove list. I’m hoping I don’t have to uninstall/reinstall, and in any case, I simply do not think I’m getting the option to install sample content on my Sample drive. I tried to email Toontrack support on this, but every time I hit send I get an error, so I have no idea if they are receiving my support request.
Anyone have a rock-solid solution for this, or can explain how to make sure I get the option to install my sample content to my sample drive?
Win 7 64 bit, 3770K CPU, 16 MB RAM, Sonar X1 Producer Expanded, 500 GB system drive, 1TB audio drive, 2TB sample drives (all internal). MOTU ultralite audio interface, etc.. etc.
Thanks,
Dave
Hi,
the first time you install EZdrummer, you actually can Custom install and set the ‘EZHOME’ location to e.g. an external drive. Once past the initial install, all additional EZX:s and Toontrack MIDI content get installed to the set ‘EZHOME’ location.
On PC, you can not move this after the fact, you need to uninstall and re-install your EZdrummer/EZX/Toontrack MIDI content.
The up side of it is, if you use the downloadable Full Product installers available in your Toontrack account, it does not take that long.
When starting over, please pay attention when running the EZdrummer installer to when you can Custom set the ‘EZHOME’ location.

The only solution is to uninstall EZdrummer and reinstall using the ‘Custom’ install option. Choose the external HD location to install the sounds/MIDI. Next install your MIDI packs. They will install to the Custom install MIDI folder. There’s no way to set paths to content (MIDI or sounds) in EZdrummer.
EDIT: John beat me to it.

Hi John and Scott,
I’ve recently switched from PC to Mac and the Mac OS is still a little new to me: I will be doing what you guys outline above (re-install EZD and all my EZX’s) in order to get all the samples on me sample drive. My question is, how do I uninstall EZD and all my EZX’s on a Mac? PC has Add/Remove programs, easy enough, but Mac has no such utility. Do I just delete the folders that encompass my current EZD and EZX installs, or is there actually an uninstall process?
Thanks.
Hi,
on Mac , you use the SoundMover utility if you wish to move the ‘EZHOME’ repository to e.g. an external drive.
SoundMover gets installed automatically into your Applications/Toontrack folder when you install from the Download image or the latest plugin update.
You simply run it, point to the new location where your ‘EZdrummer’ folder should end up and let it move all stuff correctly.

John
