Change Location of EZX Installs – Windows

Hi, I’ve been using Superior Drummer 2 with Twizted Kit, Jazz and Latin Percussion EZX expansions for some time now, and always wondered why it was often a bit slow loading these kits.

I’m currently in the process of upgrading from Windows XP 32bit to Windows 7 64bit, keeping my audio drive the same, and couldn’t find the source audio for my expansions – the standard SD2 NY kit was on my audio drive, but the EZX were nowhere to be found.

Then, when attempting to install them again, I realised the problem – it was, by default, installing the audio to my C: drive! And there are no options at any point to change this!

Surely there must be a way to change this location?

You should have a ‘Custom’ option when installing the EZXs to select where you want the sounds to go.

Hmm is this entirely true? I tried installing DFH on PC today and I never got prompted with any choice of installation path.

From what I know, there is no way of changing the path on PC, not before nor after installation. For Mac users there is SoundMover, but there is yet to be a tool for PC users for this.

Yes, you are right Martin.

I had my wisdom tooth extracted a few days ago and my faulty reply was either because I’ve lost some ‘wisdom’ or it’s the percocet talking!

Anyway, on PC the EZXs will install to the EZdrummer Home directory. If you don’t have EZdrummer installed, there is Custom Setup screen in the S2.2.1 installer where you can set a path to ‘EZdrummer Home Directory’ (create a folder on an external drive). The EZXs will install there.

So to get the EZX where we want it (in my case a separate drive for samples with my SDX’s on.) I would have to uninstall SD2, reinstall using the custom option for EZXs ?

It’s a bit of a pain as my SD2 and SDX’s are on my seperate drive (where I want them), but not knowing what would happen without EZD installed, my Nashville EZX installed to my C: drive

Is there any chance of a sound mover like utility being released for Windows ?

no, I’m afraid – this facility is built into the PC installer so that’s what should be used.

As stated you must uninstall Superior – not the sample libraries, just the engine – then re-run the installer (using the most recent version, currently 2.2.1), specifying the ‘EZdrummer Home’ as desired, so that EZX-s end up where you want them to.

It should take a matter of minutes, unless you have all the EZX released thus far.

Note that you may have to reinstall MIDI packs, if you have any, before they show up again in the browser.

no, they will use the path that you set for MIDI (well, EZplayer handles MIDI in 2 different ways, so it may retain some browser entries if you have mount points).

Sorry to drag an old thread up, but with SD2.2, the SD2 program lets me select where the EZX’s should go, but the Nashville EZX doesn’t.
It just installs itself to C: with no location options being offered during it’s (and I assume any other EZX) install.

Can I just move the Nashville EZX folder from C:, to where it’s listed in SD2.2 ?

Is the Nashville EZX being installed from the disc or from the full product download available from your Toontrack account? I would recommend installing the download version from your account.

Are you selecting the ‘Custom’ install method when installing the Nashville EZX?

Do you have any other EZXs installed or EZDrummer or do you just have Superior Drummer and the Nashville EZX?

I have SD2, SD2 Vol2, Nashville, and I’m about to install Funkmasters, but no EZDrummer.
When I re-installed SD2 as advised, I did specify EZdrummer home as N: rather than C:
