I’ve upgraded from SD2 to SD3. I can use the Avatar library in SD2 but I can’t use that library in SD3 I get the message that the library must be updated in in the Toontrack Product Manager. The TPM says it IS updated??
In SD3, in the settings, I get this information concerning the Avatar library: “Basic installation web delivery limited content”. What does that mean?
The path for Avatar is the same in SD2 and SD3.

Hi John. I’m a bit confused, I thought that the librarys I could use in SD2 would work in SD3, my Custom and Vintage does, but I can see that you have version 1.5 of Avatar and I have 1.4. So maybe matthew sloggett is right, I must update. I’ve tried but haven’t got enough disc space, how large is that update???

Is it the same library, the Avatar that comes with SD2 and “New York Studios Vol.2 SDX 1.4.2”? I’ve tried to download the new library to the same location on an external hard drive where SD3 is located but it says “a folder could not be created”. Can you help me with the exact path?

Pretty sure an “update” is not samples or very many just unlocks it to SD3, Their are different Graphics so its a no go with out an update.
Also on my Mac system the update usually just finds where its meant to go from previous installs and updates and usually is a short easy effort in PM.

Yes, the Avatar Core library is what ships with Superior 2. Your system thinks that you have the Preview installed and there is no update for the Preview and it is not SD3 compatible.
Your library config files are messed up somehow and my only recommendation will be to uninstall the library via PM and then make sure there is no ‘SL-Avatar’ folder left in ‘Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support’.
Then use the PM to Download and install the whole library; first the Full 1.4.2 installer, then apply the 1.5.0 update to make it SD3 compatible.
You can set a different Download location in the PM Preferences, there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ path for downloads.
When you install the freshly downloaded library, you should have drive space to install it where it were before, since you removed it, but you should also be able to tell the installer to install it to your external drive, next to your SD3 (not into) library.

I can’t find the uninstall option for Avatar that came with SD2? I guess I can’t just delete the folder in the application support folder?
BR
Henrik
It *should* work to delete it. But if you download the Installer, it has an Uninstall option.

I’m in the “SDX EXPANSIONS” – “Downloads” – I can’t download anything, see the attached screenshot. The uninstall option from the menu to the left is grey but there is a “delete” option for the New York Studios Vol.1 (Avatar)???

OK,
that screen shot didn’t include the ‘info below’, so I’m not sure what happened there but please go ahead and use the ‘Delete’ option then.
Can you set the path to your Downloads to somewhere else than the Default location?
If you need it set to the Default, please see this post, if you may have a related problem and solution:

Hi John
I must admit that the solution in the link you sent to me is too complicated for me. I’ve made a folder as described here:
“Can you create; Users/ (Yourname)/Downloads/Toontrack/Product Manager”
but it is not accepted as a download folder.
I’ve deleted Avatar library in but my original library from SD2 is still on my computer.
I’ve tried to download the Avatar library, I’m told to free up disc space on my computer or change the location in prefernces. I’ve done that, to an external disc with lots of space, when I then try to download I get the exact same message, as if the change in location hasn’t been discovered.
You must tell me in details what to do, I think this is very complicated, time consuming and frustrating. Maybe its just that update to 1.5, it should work with downloading to an external disc, on the other hand, I already have the library, what will happen if I delete that??

Hi Henrik,
if you chose ‘Delete’ in PM but your ‘SL-Avatar’ folder is still on your Macintosh HD, then please go ahead and delete it in the Finder, you should have no ‘SL-Avatar’ folder(s) left on your hard drive. Then empty the Trash Bin.
You can’t download and apply the 1.5.0 update to the limited installation, which your system ‘thinks’ is installed, it simply won’t be allowed by the installer. I can’t say what has gone wrong when you have installed the full library on top of the limited library but clearly something has.
If you can’t Reset/Set a Download location, something must be wrong with Permissions on your system.
Have you tried to Repair Permissions on your Mac?
If you have managed to delete the faulty Avatar installation, that should have freed up about 20GB, then you need about 20GB for the Download, which means you probably need about 50GB of free space on your internal hard drive, should you want to both download and install to it.
If you create a ‘Toontrack’ folder on an external drive and try to set that as your ‘Download location’ in the PM Preferences, can you post a screen shot of the error message, including the path window?

John
