I’ve upgraded from SD2 to SD3. I can use the Avatar library in SD2 but I can’t use that library in SD3 I get the message that the library must be updated in in the Toontrack Product Manager. The TPM says it IS updated??
In SD3, in the settings, I get this information concerning the Avatar library: “Basic installation web delivery limited content”. What does that mean?
The path for Avatar is the same in SD2 and SD3.
Henrik
Hi,
it seems you have only installed the very limited Avatar library, equivalent of 1 DVD. This was originally meant for having something to start with while you waited for the DVD:s to arrive in the mail.
I recommend you uninstall it and download and install the “real” Library. You still don’t need to install all Tools but you need to have a non-limited installation.

Hi
Thanks for your answer.
Yes it seems like that but it is installed, I can use Avatar when I’m in SD2? And they have the same path to the library.
??

Henrik
OK,
so to summarise: you know for a fact that you have installed the full library (equivalent of 5 DVD:s) and not just the Web limited version?
-> If you check the size of your ‘SL-Avatar/Sounds’ folder, how big is it? How many ‘.obw’ files are in there?
If you have the full library but your system thinks it only has the limited install, I need to know your OS version.

There are 19.6 gb in the SL-Avatar folder, there are 13 obw files in the folder. Remember that I can use the Avatar sound library in SD2. I use OS 10.10.5.

That’s the full library alright.

Yes, I did get that but somehow SD3 thinks, unlike your Superior 2 plugin and PM, that you have the limited web install and I am pretty certain SD3 won’t load that one, since the web version is earlier than 1.5.0 which should be the min req for SD3.
You’re 100% sure that both Superior 2 and SD3 looks for the full Avatar library in the same location? Is it installed in the Default Library/Application Support location?
I use OS 10.10.5.
OK, most likely not related to this problem but Yosemite was never especially good for Audio/DAW work for many, myself included.
So, if you can confirm that you have double-checked that both plugins look for the full library in the same location – don’t forget to check if you have a Backup location for the full Avatar library in Superior 2 Settings – then I need to check with my colleagues what kind of string of text in a config can fool only the SD3 plugin on your system.
BTW, you could always try this:
Open the Settings page in Superior 2 and select the ‘N.Y.-AVATAR’ in the drop-down to the left (where you check the path).
Click ‘Remove’ and ‘Yes’ to ‘Forget this Library?’.
Then click ‘Add Path to Library’ and browse to your ‘N.Y.-Avatar’ folder to add it back. Check that it loads OK.
Close Superior 2 and open SD3 to see if it loads there as well.

Hi John
Thanks for the answer, I’ll get back to you during this weekend.
BR
Henrik
I’ve attached two screenshots that shows that the library is in the same location for both SD versions
Hmm, can’t find the exact same thing that you write about, “remove” and “forget this library” when I’m in SD2, it says “clear” and when I press that button the path disappears. When I re-establish the path it is ok with SD2 but still not with SD3.
BR
Henrik
Ups, I’ve found the buttons you mention but SD2 won’t remove the library because its “in use”, what can I do?
BR
Henrik
OK,
if you switch to the EZdrummer EZX or Custom & Vintage EZX first before you go to the Library path Settings?

Hmm, I don’t understand that, if I switch to Custom and Vintage then it is only that library I can remove??
BR
Henrik
No,
you switch Library in the drop-down Menu to the left.

thanks, found it, but it did not help.
I’ve checked for that back up you mentioned earlier, in SD2, it is not set. Must I check the same for SD3? If “yes”, where?
BR
Henrik
Hi,
the answer would be ‘No’. I have to check with my colleagues for input here.

Henrik,
could you please upload a screen shot of your installation info tab for the Avatar library, like I have in the attached screen shot?
Please make sure you actually click the ‘Start Upload’ button, your previous posts did not include any uploads.
BR,
John
