I got an error message that SD3 could not find all the sounds because of “can’t find sound batch” or something like that. It prompted me to reinstall the sound libraries.
Now I’ve downloaded part 1 but incant install because:
”
The file “SL-SuperiorDrummer3/GraphicsV3/Tom/LudwigConcert18.png” could not be copied.
The file “Tom” doesn’t exist.
”
I’ve redownloaded the part 3 times already. What to do?
A .png file is a graphics file. Where are you trying to install to and do you have write permissions to do so (that’s a MacOS issue)? Did you install the main part of the program where the installer wanted to put it? You also need to download and install Parts 1 (the basic sound library) and 2 (room mics) of the core library. Are you letting the installer do it’s thing or are you trying to install manually? What is the file size of part 1 that you downloaded (it should be a few gig).

Are you installing from Toontrack Product Manager? If not please download and install it first and then go through the download/install process again from within Product Manager for SD3.

I’m installing to an external drive, that I’ve installed it on from the first place. I’ve done a successful install maybe 6 months ago that stopped working when I got the missing sound batch error message.

Could you go to (Your External drive and folder)/SL-SuperiorDrummer3/GraphicsV3/ and see if the the folder “Tom” does or doesn’t exist?
Jack might be on to something, although my thought is that the drive itself may be failing. Is it an SSD? How old? Is there anything else on it?
It’s odd for SD3 to just stop working and not be able to find files.

Given what the OP has written it could well be that external drive. Failing is one thing. Bad cable is another – they can go bad without moving/disconnecting anything. If the drive is bus powered that could be an issue. Maybe even the drive has gone to sleep but I doubt that. Something I brought up that hasn’t been answered is did the OP install the SD3 program itself as well as parts 1 and 2 of the core library? You need to have them installed.
Oh yeah – one more thing – is SD3 itself installed on the system drive? That’s where it has to be. The sound library can be anywheres.

The drive is 6 month old, bus powered and no SSD. Everything else on it works. The SD# file is installed on the system drive. From the error message, it seems to me that it can’t copy the tom file FROM the installation file?
I’ve tried uninstalling the original installation of SD3.
Hi,
do you have an open Support Ticket with Toontrack? If not, I think you might want to open one via one of the FAQ pages.
The message does not necessarily mean that the file in question can’t be copied because it doesn’t exist in the install package, it could also mean that it can’t be copied because the destination isn’t available. This *could* be due to a problem with the install package, permissions or the drive(s), that’s why Brad and Jack ask these questions. A working installation that suddenly stops working and is missing files actually indicates drive problems.
Anyways, since there are many variables in this, it might get solved quicker by Toontrack Support.

If it’s not an SSD what type of drive is it? A spinner? If you have the room on your system drive install parts 1 and 2 of the core library on that and see if things work okay. I’m also not a fan of bus powered drives. Is the drive connected direct or via adapters? Sometimes adapters don’t pass bus power correctly. As a matter of fact how is the drive connected?

How is your external drive formatted? If it is anything other than APFS then you are probably going to experience issues such as this.
