How do you install the SDXs to an external drive? I changed the PM manager to a folder on an external. Downloaded and when I try and Intall it says parse file missing DVD or something.
WTF??
Search for Catalina problems. The forum is full of them.

Hi,
please check Olof’s replies over here:

Does it help? The idea is in short that you download the parts, then copy (the stuff that the installer normally does for you) to another location and link that folder.

So basically install as normal. Move the installed package to the external then go in SD3 setting and target the moved package?
hum.
Installing to the internal drive, then move the ‘SL-xxxxx’ folder to an external drive and point to the new location in SD3 Settings is another way of doing it.

I had this problem when downloading Death and Darkness, I thought there would be an option to download only the content needed as in SD3 but no, I had to download the whole 120 gb to an external drive because I had no space in my internal ssd, only then you can select to install the basic content, why did you remove this option?
FOLLOW UP: Right now you can get a T5 1gb Samsung thunderbolt SSD for 139.00. I bought one.
just move ALL SL-xxxxx files to a new folder on the drive. Including the SD3 folder. The ones previously installed.
now…
go into setting and change the install paths and the hard drive type In the sd3 app.
IMPORTANT: finally go into your PM app and in the the details section of each pack moved… change the install location there TOO.
holy… the system runs beyond fast now. SDX kits load in under a second.
freed up over 500 gbs of drum data. Loading up and working in SD3 is beyond fast now.
cheers.
