OS X 10.8.5, Mac mini 2.5GHz i5, 100GB free disk space
I can download the dmg and mount it successfully after verification (I have done this three times now). I get to the administrator verification (username and password) and then it simply hangs on the “Preparing for installation” and spinning barber pole.
The installer log shows nothing useful, but the Console tells me
09/05/2014 10:00:50.772 coreservicesd[72]: Application App:”Installer” [ 0x0/0x168168] @ 0x0x7fbc94bb90e0 tried to be brought forward, but isn’t in fPermittedFrontASNs ( ( ASN:0x0-0x169169:) ), so denying.

Apparently this is connected with gatekeeper and there is meant to be a fix involving this:
sudo spctl –master-disable
sudo spctl –status
But this doesn’t work. Is there a permissions thing somewhere that I should be looking at?
