In the manual it says this, and I can’t get this behavior:
When engaged the Snap option (in the Grid Editor header) will cause all notes to conform to the grid. The visible grid is based upon the zoom level (i.e. the more zoomed in you are, the more grid lines available). Opening the Resolution menu will allow you to choose the note division for the snapping of notes. When moved, notes will snap to this determined value regardless of the grid lines that are displayed. There is also an Auto option. This forces the note to snap to the very next grid line that is displayed, and thus determined by the zoom level.
QUANTIZE PERCENTAGE AND MAX
The Quantize Percentage slider will move all selected notes to the nearest grid line by the selected percentage. The Quantize value is also determined by the selected Resolution menu value. Therefore, if you would like to quantize a Hi-Hat to 1/16th notes, simply select all Hi-Hat notes, choose 1/16th from the Resolution menu and then move the slider to 100% (or click the Max button). The Max button sets the Quantize percentage to 100%.
I’m working with a 1/4 note grid. None of the above is happening for me, and I don’t understand why. It doesn’t matter if I “select all” the notes or select an individual note on the grid and try to use the Quantize Percentage and Max tools. The above processes don’t work. I have to select each individual note and drag one by one, only then will a note snap to the grid.
Any insight appreciated!
BTW… In the dropdown Options meun (upper right of the GUI), I have “Snap to Grid” options set to Quantization.

Hi,
I am trying my best to make all of the above not work but it does work as expected here.
Are you working in standalone or plug-in? Which version number is reported in the interface (lower left corner)?
Is it possible for you to make a short video clip of this?
BR,
John

Hi. Thanks for the note. The behavior is the same in both standalone and plugin. Version is the latest, 3.2.7.
I’ve tried to attach a short demo in three formats (.mp4 and .mov video format, and I even tried a regular ol’ animated .gif), and I get the same message with all the formats: Error! File type not allowed.
So… what video format is allowed?
Thanks.

Hi,
I see that you are trying to Quantize the Tambourine, which is a ‘Future Hit’ Instrument, which may be part of the explanation. You can Quantize using the Snap, Q and slider with other Instruments, right?

John

Hi John. Tried the quantize tools on the hat. Yes, the tools work on them. I guess it’s just the future hits the tools don’t, so you have to tweak them by hand, if needed.
