speaking of learn i cannot understand why the midi learn function does not have a shortcut and its hidden in a very hard spot to get used to

    Hi,

if you have the MIDI Mapping Property Box open, there’s a big button for opening the MIDI In/E-drums settings there. There is also a menu next to ‘MIDI’ in the lower right corner which can take you there, as you can see in the attached screen shot.MIDIMap

Mind you, if you re-map notes in the MIDI Mapping Property Box on the Drums page, you alter it’s actual assignment, making the mapping incompatible with your Toontrack MIDI. Sometimes, that’s exactly what you want, if you e.g. are adding a row of User samples and/or Timpanis to your kit but that is only saved to your Project, not an incoming MIDI Map.

Would it be possible for you to screen record when it isn’t working? Are you sure you have ‘Enabled’ Use Preset?

Is there an customer service email address I can send a recording to? I do not want to continue in the forum for this.

I am also having an issue with this.

    • I went through and mapped everything to my ekit set up.
    • Saved the midi map preset.
    • Saved the kit config.
    • Saved the entire thing as my default.
    • Saved the project I was working in.
    • Open the project the next day and its all changed back and needs remapping.
    • Loaded the midi map preset I saved, that didn’t work (It already was on that preset)
    • Tried to reload the default preset, that didn’t work either.

Very frustrating after spending hours last night figuring it all out and remapping it over and over again rather than enjoying playing.

I’m having the exact same issue. I have a large kit. 9 toms, 5 cymbals, ride, 2 hi hat pads, kick, snare. On my user presets, I add in toms, cymbals, etc. to match up with my kit. Modifying and saving kits is no problem. I can go in and map each pad to the appropriate drum in the kit, and everything works great. I’ve saved my midi map under user presets found under the MIDI In/E-Drums Settings tab multiple times. I’ve saved each user preset kit as a new project. Every time I leave a customized kit and open another project or kit, and then go back to the edited kits, they revert back to different midi mapping, and my added instruments aren’t mapped correctly. How can I save my kits, so they work when I come back to them?

Ok, last attempt. I’m in the Midi In/E-drum Setting. I press “Use Preset”. Now I save it named “Set_01”. No I open another project with another Kit loaded but same number of Toms and Cyms etc. Now I open the Midi in/E-Drum Setting and press “Use Preset” and load from “User Presets” “Set_01”. Nothing happens, nothing changes, no Input-Transformation. What am I doing wrong?

    Kind Regards

    Any news to this bug?

    I still have this issue.

    Hi guys,

I have been trying to reproduce here but simply can’t. If I save a User MIDI Preset and apply it on a Project which either started as a Project without an applied preset or not, Default or not, it doesn’t matter; the recalled MIDI preset is applied.

If I save a Project, the recalled Project loads with the MIDI Preset applied when saved, no matter if another MIDI preset was active in the Project before (since applied presets save with the Project).

If I load a User MIDI Preset and switch libraries/kits, the mapping stays.

Is there a particular Factory MIDI Preset you have started from?

I have the issue with multiple starting points. I've had superior drummer forever so it seems I have quite a few midi files. With former/older mapping files it seems to have used 'usermap' commands. For D&D,it uses 'note' and 'translate'. Either way the mapping saves fine but on start up, i have problems when extra toms have been created. It will start with a 27 to 48 mapping despite being mapped to 47 in the config. Once I recorrect it, it is fine but if i start fresh it has the ongoing problem. Ive saved many projects to the same avail. Also tried starting Sd3 in admin mode.  Win10.

    John,

Thanks for looking into this for us. I’m using a Roland TD20 as the basis for the preset. I’ve edited from there. I have a large kit, and I’m triggering through two modules. A Roland TD20 and a Roland TD8. I go midi out from the TD8 into the TD20. From there I go to a PreSonus Studio 24c, and into the computer.

When I first started using SD3 at the end of 2021, I didn’t have this issue. It seems like most of my problems are with added instruments to presets. The standard kit drums seem to stay properly mapped (with a few exceptions) when they are reloaded, but the added instruments need to be remapped every time. For example, my highest tom is on midi note 33 for the center and note 34 for the rim. I can remap everything and it will play fine. Before I open another kit or project, I’ll save the project, save the midi preset and save the user kit. When I reopen the project, the kit loads properly, but my 4 added instruments are mapped incorrectly. The center on the tom that is on midi note 33 ends up as tom 1 center instead of instrument 1 center. The rim stays mapped to the rim sound on instrument 1. Instrument 2 center goes to tom1 and the same for instrument 3. Those three are tomes that are all pitched higher than tom 1. Instrument 4 is a tom pitched lower than floor tom 2. and the center reverts to floor tom 2 instead of instrument 4. Again, the rim stays properly mapped. This is in the core library.  In the Darkness library from Death and Darkness, instrument 1 and 3 centers revert to tom 1, instrument 2 reverts to tom 2, and the lowest tom goes to instrument 1. The instrument 1 rim ends up as tom 1 rim, and instrument 4 ends up as crash 4. I can remap and everything works fine, until I change projects or kits. I have similar issues with Death for Death and Darkness, The Metal Foundry, The Progressive Foundry and with the Rock EZX, all with slight variances on how the mapping reverts when a project or kit is opened.

Let me know if I can give you more information.

I love SD3, but this is frustrating.

Hey guys! The issue with e-drum mapping getting lost on drums that are added as extra drums or re-mapped drums is fixed now and will be available in the next release of Superior Drummer 3.

I still have this problem with SD3 version 3.3.4.

    Anyone found a workaround?

Christoffer. I’ve upgraded to 3.3.4 and so far, the problem seems to be fixed.

    Thank you.
