Have you checked the file path in Garageband?

    I’ve gone into Library>Audio>Plug-ins>Components & EZDrummer3.component is right there.

If this isn’t what you’re referring to, though, let me know.

If you do not see EZ Drummer 3 In your list of software instruments in GarageBand, run the installer in customized mode and make sure AU is selected. You may also have to clear out your AU cache.

No use checking file paths because there’s only one place that it should be. Even if it is there as you say, the install might either be incomplete or corrupt. The only real check is if it validates in GarageBand.

Thanks for the reply Jord –

I’ve done as you suggested & cleared my AU cache then reinstalling & making sure AU was selected. I then rescanned garage band for plugins, but I’m still facing the same issue.

    Thx

Just to give you all a visual – these screenshots are taken from a project that was sent to me by a bandmate whose drums were programmed with EZDrummer.

In the first screenshot I’ve selected the drums track, and as you can see in the plug-ins list EZDrummer is selected from when my bandmate was working on the project on his computer – but since garage band isn’t recognizing that I have the plug-in its sort of blocked off/unhighlighted.

In screenshot #2 I’ve expanded my entire list of plug ins, with the audio units tab selected, & as you can see – no mention of EZDrummer or Toontrack.

    Hope this helps!

Which build of Garageband do you have?

    Hi,

there are two issues in your screen shots:

    1. Your bandmate’s GB Project was saved with EZdrummer 1 or 2, EZdrummer 3 would be named ‘EZdrummer 3’ not just ‘EZdrummer’. EZdrummer 3 is another plug-in and does not automatically replace EZdrummer 1/2.
    2. In that plug-in list, there should be an entry for ‘AU Generators’ and ‘AU Instruments’ if this was an Instrument Track but there is only an ‘Audio Units’ entry, which implies it is not an Instrument Track but instead an Audio Track. I.e. it is not strange that Toontrack/EZdrummer 3 isn’t on that list.

    BR,
    John

    Basically as John said.

in this case, if it is EZ Drummer 2, get the sender to save an EZ Drummer project (hopefully the MIDI is on the EZ Drummer timeline) alongside the GarageBand project and you will have to create a new EZ Drummer 3 track in GarageBand and import the EZ Drummer project into it.
