Hi All
I have asked Toontrack this same question about ALL of their software packages. EZ Drummer, Superior Drummer, EZ Keys, EZ Bass, and EZ Mix. WHY are they so obsessed with “Metal” (12 EZ Mix packs of Metal sounds) I play modern and vintage country music, blues, rockabilly, 50’s rock ‘n’ roll, hillbilly, bluegrass, and other related genres and hardly ANY of Toontrack’s products cover those vintage sounds. There’s only ONE country guitars EZ Mix pack, and that’s mostly modern sounds. Also, with the “Traditional Country” EZX, they used a drummer that clearly is used to playing more modern drum styles, so, although the drums sounds awesome, the midi loops and feels are all wrong for the genre and styles of the 50’s and 60’s. I get that we live in a modern rock era, but PLEASE Toontrack, can you address some other genres and find some musicians who play some old-school styles.
I’m quite disappointed that Al Schmidt didn’t include many, if any, of the sounds he used on Sam Cooke’s records in his Decades SDX or his EZ Mix pack.
Sorry to be a whinger but, after buying 129+ Toontrack products, I amazed that I’m still having to mess around with other software to get those classic sounds.
Hope this gets to someone who might have some sway.
Cheers,
Rick

Dear Toontrack
I posted on this subject on March 10th, and have yet to receive ANY response other than “We will forward your feedback to our development team.”
A quick and thoughtless fob-off, at best.
PLEASE can you address the issue seriously. Your products are AMAZING, but you are SO lop-sided in leaning toward Rock and Metal that’s no longer funny.
Even a few decent midi packs would do, for a start, some vintage bass and guitar amp sounds, and a 50’s & 60’s style P-Bass with a (foam under the strings) dampener option. Although, that could just be added to the session player EBX, as it should really have been included with that expansion.
Using the word “vintage” and “classic” means more than just sampling old gear and instruments. You need to have players that KNOW those styles, and use their knowledge. You KNOW this, as you’ve gone into so much detail in other expansions, so, why not do the same for other genres? There are tons of us out here waiting for more country (real “Country Music” I mean. Not the modern pop/rock tribe that Nashville is peddling), Rockabilly, Western Swing, Honky-Tonk, Bluegrass and Folk! Where’s all of THAT stuff?
I’m not saying any of this out of malice. I absolutely LOVE Toontrack products. I have 129 of them, inc, EZD 1, 2 & 3, SD 1 & 2, EZK 1 & 2, and EZB and would use them exclusively, if only you covered my chosen genres properly.
Yours Hopefully,
Rick
Hey Rick!
Do you have any drummers/artists/producers in mind that you are thinking about for “Rockabilly, Western Swing, Honky-Tonk, Bluegrass and Folk”?
Please note that when we say that we are forwarding your feedback, that does not mean that anyone will reach out to you for a continued discussion. There are many product suggestions and feature requests coming in but the team is always happy to read your messages.
