hi,
sorry, I should not pst technical problems here but in the support forum, BUT i can’t because I would need to activate my product which i can’t.
Why? Because I can not even finish installation.
It always stops with an error message:
It says it can not find a file MACHINE/TOONTRACK/SUPERIOR. Internal Error 27555.
I am trying to install in a vista 64 bit environment.
Can anybody help me out?
Make sure you have the latest http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4&displaylang=en.
If that doesn’t solve things, I’ll query the head of support but since it’s the middle of the night local Sweden time, it won’t be until tomorrow morning local Sweden time.

my system is a brand new vista 64, quadcore, 8gb ram system. the installer should be up to date, since the last release of microsofts installer was in 2008.
hopefully the swedish pros can help.
Are you choosing the 32-bit or 64-bit install version?
If you are on a 64-bit OS and using a 64-bit host, run the 64-bit installer.

I got 64 Bit Vista with Sonar 8.5.3 running in 64 bit.
I chose the 64 Bit Installer from the get go.
is this the EXACT message? It sounds to me more like a registry related error…
and are you sure it is the Windows Installer (setup) that is failing rather than the self-extracting? Can you describe in more details what happens from the point where your download is complete and the TT133_EZmix_WIN.exe file is sitting on your desktop (or wherever else).

oh, there has been a misunderstanding. the file TT133_EZmix_WIN.exe makes it successfully on my computer.
when i use this .exe file it creates a folder with 2 subfolders (32 bit install, 64 bit install).
i open the folder 64 install and use the only file in this folder. set-up/installation starts. after 5 seconds of working (the bar fills a bit, so it seems to be installing a few files), it stops with the error message i posted before.
ps: the error message “can not find a file MACHINE/TOONTRACK/SUPERIOR. Internal Error 27555.” sounds like a registry error to you?!

well, MACHINE has no meaning in term of content for the program. I think that is read from registry and spewed in a slightly misleading way.
Does ‘MACHINE’ represent something for you (as in something specific to your workstation, folder or drive)?
… sadly Error 27555 does not really get me much further when researching its meaning, but I believe you have something in the registry that it making the installer choke, for some reason.
A wild guess would be that this is a truncated expansion of HKEY LOCAL MACHINE, but that doesn’t make a great deal of sense, especially if the message as you pasted is accurate.
Anyway, I certainly wouldn’t assume that you have the latest version of the Windows Installer, that’s probably the case but possibly not – although I’m not sure why the version you have would be problematic, or that a newer would resolve the matter.
Still, I recommend you check here first:

MACHINE does not mean anything to me, didn’t even know that i had such a folder. I will be home in an hour and will follow your suggestions then.
please do… if problems persist try to upload some screenshots for us to have a look at, even if your system if localized (and I suspect it might be).

checked my pc, no machine folder there. used regedit: there is only this hkey_local_machine folder in it, no toontrack folder.
will try your suggested options now.
ps: maybe i should try the 32 bit installer too? just to see what happens?
pps: about that windows installer link: which one is for me? there are 5 different ones, not one named to fit vista… EDIT: found it. after downloading it says THIS UPDATE IS NOT WORKING WITH YOUR SYSTEM.
Strange 🙁
EDIT: okay, found that one out. I got VISTA Service Pack 2. No windows installer matching VISTA SP2 on the page of your link. hm.
“The Windows Installer 4.5 redistributable can be installed on Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, and Windows Server 2008 in X86, X64 and IA64 flavors.”
What now? 🙁

I made a video out of it.. this should help.
edit, 23.04.2010: do you need anything more from me? do you want me to send you a dxdiag.txt file?
thanks for that. As I suspected the error is due to some standard registry path variable being mishandled – and unfortunately I don’t think there is going to be a great deal we can do about it (although we’ll try).
In other words, it’s clearly a Windows Installer issue, which hopefully can be resolved with (re)installing (even if only to repair the existing version) the WI redistributables.
That said I will check various resources to see if this is a known occurrence on localized systems (German in your case) but I highly doubt it.

btw, your screencast stopped slightly too early for me to tell, but dismissing the dialog, the installer rolls back – correct? … just to be sure that regardless of the error the program is not installed (check Program and Features for an EZmix entry).
And in respect to trying the 32 bit installer, you could always try as it probes a different path of the registry and therefore could possibly succeed (although I would expect the same to happen). This would at least give you a temporary solution (through Sonar’s bitbridge) while we check the options available from here.

I am not sure how to do this, as the installer is not avaiable for vista service pack 2 (from the microsoft pages online).
