I am considering switching from BFD3 to EZDrummer. 90% of my needs are post-bebop and/or modal jazz beat but I also need Brazilian percussion instruments such as pandeiro, surdo, berimbau, and ago-ago. I couldn’t find if you have the optional package for these. Also I am looking for Brazilian grooves such as frevo, xote, baião, afoxé. Any help would be appreciated.
This would be really great to have. Both percussion and drum set, so probably two different EZXs or MIDI packs. All the grooves mentioned above plus of course samba, samba cancao, bossa, calango, marcha, maxixe.

Thanked by: Tate66 and BrianIf done by somebody with a deep and extensive knowledge of the styles, like Celso Fonseca or Mauricio Zottarelli (there are many other qualified people), this could be really great.
EDIT: I meant Celso Alberti, not Fonseca.

Thanked by: Tate66 and BrianI used to play with Mauricio Zottarelli. I still do occasionally. Nice to see his mane is mentioned 🙂

Thanked by: Richard Lindsey and BrianI’ve heard Mauricio play in the Bay Area with Marcos Silva, whom I play with sometimes. Mauricio is a tremendous drummer, and I’m sure he would be great for a Brazilian EZX and/or SDX.

Thanked by: BrianMan, I SO wish ToonTracks thought there’d be a market for this. The instruments are of crucial importance to me, but if I could also have grooves such as jazz samba (uptempo, like Nando Lauria has used), Partido Alto, and Meracatu, I’d be so stoked!
More than 1 year ago I wrote this in a parallel thread: “How ignorant can you (EZD) be not to include Brazilian Rhythms and Percussion. This is a huge genre of global interest. I love the Latin Percussion pack and the high flexibility provided in the grid editor to trim the grooves to your needs. This is also urgently needed for Brazilian styles. And please do not add any further variants of stuff that is already available like e.g. metal etc.”
Yet, absolutely nothing has happened. While Toontrack is bringing out new EZX packs which are simply more of the same (sometimes even more of the same shit). This is a shame. We urgently need Brazilian Percussion alongside the Latin Percussion and Cuban Percussion packs.
Toontrack! Get your guts together and let it happen!!!
Other drummers who could do this: Kiko Freitas, Edu Ribeiro, Thiago “Big” Rabello. Rabello has even got his own studio to do it in. C’mon, Toontrack!
While we wait for something that Toontrak is never going to do, Muletone Software out of Brazil makes some libraries that run in Kontakt 8. They sound FABULOUS, including the metal and wood Surdos, Berimbau, caixa, Repinique, etc etc. Grooves and one-shots. Not all of the Rhythms mentioned in this thread are included, but what is there is authentic, well-recorded, by musicians born and raised in Brazil. I can’t recommend this world-class resource highly enough!
