I use Protools but the operation should be the same on all DAW’s.

I do what you are asking all the time and it’s as simple as only arm the one track/channel in your DAW to input only that snare channel. So in other words only select Arm/ Input from SD3 on whatever DAW channel it is on. In Protools there is an input button on the channel. Input is set to whatever your SD3 output is for that kit piece ( day 3/4 or 5/6 mo o Left or right) . Arm your DAW track and listen to the snare in this case. Hope this helps. I like to layer different snare by recording them on different channels and blending them together in my drum tracks.

Thank you very much – now I just have to try and figure out how to apply your method.

I usually just bounce all the files, and then add to Protools by adding the various tracks.

What version of Protools are you using? Anything after 12.5 should have an input button. Arm that (make it green by selecting it)  whatever the SD3 channel is(3/4,5/6 etc L or R) look for that on Input for the Protools channel you are using.  So say channel 1 in Protools is what you are using. There is an input and output. Select input, sd3 and whatever channel your SD3 channel is. Make sure the input button is armed in PT or if you do not have the input button, select record. Play your drum track and record on protools. That’s pretty much it.
