I just installed the latest update (3.2.8) for SD3. After the update I can no longer ‘Export Song as Audio File(s)’. The dialog will open when I click it, but when I try to click on the ‘Bounce’ button it just flashed, but doesn’t open up a file window to actually save the files. Everything worked fine prior to installing the update.
I’m using SD3 as a plugin in GarageBand version 10.3.5 on a Mac mini with High Sierra OS, version 10.13.6. Any help is appreciated!
I also tried exporting the song as a MIDI file to see if I could export audio files using the standalone version of SD3, but choosing that option as a plugin within GarageBand now causes it to crash (“GarageBand quit unexpectedly”).
Hi,
if you could save and ZIP archive a crash log and attach to a post here, it might give us some information why it happens on your system.
One thing you can try is to clear the AU cache and reboot. Please see this FAQ:

Thanks John. I did clear the AU cache several times, and tried reinstalling the SD update, but the problem persists.
Unfortunately, the Export as audio files doesn’t trigger an actual error, it’s the bounce button isn’t functional. It responds to being clicked (changes color), but doesn’t do anything beyond that.
I’ve attached error logs for export to MIDI and saving a project from the SD plugin within GarageBand.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
OK,
I have forwarded this to my colleagues.

Hi Jeff,
Please open Applications > Utilities > Terminal and paste the following commands there, all at once:
defaults delete com.apple.audio.SandboxHelper app.com.apple.garageband10
rm ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.audiounits.cache
rm ~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache/com.apple.audiounits.cache
rm ~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache/com.apple.audiounits.sandboxed.cache
echo
Then restart your computer and start GarageBand. When you try to load SD3 (or maybe even earlier on), GarageBand should ask if want to lower the security settings. Does it? Choose to do so – click “Lower Security Settings.” Then see if bounce works.

Thanks Olof. I followed your steps as advised, and lowered the security settings. Unfortunately the problem still persists. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff
That is weird. If you use the uninstaller included in 3.2.8 and install 3.2.4, does it work then?
I have no issues with the plug-in save dialogs in GarageBand 10.3.5 on Mojave. Would you be able to upgrade to Mojave (10.14)?

Unfortunately my Mac is too old and I’m unable to upgrade to Mojave. It’s probably just time to get a new Mac and then I won’t have these problems due to an aging system. Thanks for all your help.
