I am seeking guidance on how to generate 8-bar song blocks when the originals are 12 bars long.
I found a clip that works for my song and used song creator to get all the various parts. I see that the original verses and choruses are 12 bars, but I need them to be 8 bars.
I found that when I select the “ABAB Short” song structure, I get what I want, but only for a couple of the verse and chorus variations. I would like to make more 8 bar clips. I know that I can use the scissor tool to cut them down. Is this the best way to do it? I feel like it makes more sense to cut off the first 4 bars (rather than the last 4) so you get the extra hits that often come at the end. But this also means that I might be starting the verse with unnatural hits.
I’m guessing I am overthinking it, but figured I would get the wisdom of others on this. Thanks!
You’re not overthinking, you just haven’t mastered all of EZD2 options yet. There are plenty for you.
Yes, scissors or scrub tool. If you cut off the beginning of a file, you can add an Opening Hit in the Edit Play Style Window. If you cut off the end of the file, find a drum Fill in the Song Creator Fill Column, or on the Search Tab, and add a fill back to the end of your beat. Or better, cut out the middle section of your 12 bar beat, and merge the beat back together. Now you have the beginning and end of your 12 bar file.
If you didn’t realize, you can go to your search Tab, set filters up for your criteria, and then sort only 8 Bar beat’s in the search column.
If this doesn’t solve your issue right away, you may be interested in some vids that are below in my Signature. Recording and Editing, editing in the Song Track, and editing in the Edit Play Style Window are areas you may want to know all the details of if you really want to tweak your drum tracks in EZD2.
I hope that helps.
