When I click on the bass drum in the SD3 I get a nice loud hit. When I trigger this from my Roland TD50X KD140 bass drum the drum sound is much quieter. The rest of the drums & cymbals are all nice and loud. I’ve checked cables, sensitivity in the Roland module and it is triggering in SD3. I could go into the mixer and raise the volume but suspect there’s something more fundamental going on as I’m sure Toontrack wouldn’t;t have the bass drum in Death&Darkness intentionally this low. Any ideas?
That when you click on the drum in SD3 and it sounds loud indicates that the problem is NOT in SD3 but in what your ekit is sending. It could be your kick tower is not sending out a high velocity – the sensitivity setting is only part of the equation. You might not even be hitting the pedal strong enough. Get the free snoize MIDI monitoring utility and run it on your computer and it will tell you what’s coming from your ekit. Look at the velocity numbers. Clicking the drums in the SD3 gui all get a uniform velocity no matter how hard you press keys on your computer keyboard.

Thanked by: Isha MidoriThe kick sensitivity is not set right out of the box, with mine my hardest hits were triggering 85-90 max, so change the sensitivity in the module before doing anything in SD3
