“I start every project in Cubase on bar 3”
“My EZD2 Song Track syncs with the Reaper pre-roll count in and doesn’t start playback until the 2 bar pre-roll is over.”
Ok so that is how it should be done, the way you do it, I can force myself to do it that way if you want me to but it don’t help me in the standalone making up a drum track from that sheet music I sent you (that lines fine up with your bar 3 song start), that is saved as audio for say adobe audition that is set with a 2 bar offset for a drummer’s count-in, are you ok doing the bar offset in your head each time, oh no that’s not bar 48 that’s bar 50.
EZD2 is fantastic I know that you don’t need to be defensive over it, but it still has room for improvement.

    Thanks.

Please forgive my delayed response….I got home a short while ago
and just got a chance to sit in front of EZDrummer2, Logic Pro X and Pro Tools 12.

In short, the answer to your original question is “No. There is no Bar Offset function in EZDrummer2.”
    BUT…

In Pro Tools 12, when I created a 2 bar offset before Bar 1,
EZD2 followed along bar-for-bar with the Pro Tools playhead; i.e.
when Pro Tools was playing Bar 2, EZD2 was playing Bar 2 in its timeline.

I had the same experience in Logic Pro X. When I created a 2 bar offset before Bar 1,
    EZD2 followed along bar-for-bar with the Logic Pro X playhead;
i.e. when Logic Pro X was playing Bar 2, EZD2 was playing Bar 2 in its timeline.

Somehow, these 2 DAWs knew that the “Song Start” was moved 2 bars
and did not transmit “Follow Me” information to EZD2 until the “Song Started”.

When I tried to do the same in Reaper, I experienced the scenario that you described.
Reaper was playing Bar 1 while EZD2 was playing Bar 3.
Perhaps there is another offset required in Reaper that is not necessary in Pro Tools or Logic Pro X. SMPTE?

Please note: the most recent version of Reaper that I have is v4.591/64 rev b45de3; 01/17/2014.
Sorry. I only downloaded to help a friend get started with it 2 years ago.

I never tried it in Reaper 4, but in Reaper 5, go to Option -> Metronome Pre-roll settings.
You can set it to play during Play and/or Record, and/or to count-in before Play and/or Record.
You can also set a number of other options if you need to.

There is an easy work-around for Stand-alone mode, provided you’re not the guitar player.
Set up your drum track the way you want it.
Set a Loop for the first 2 bars only. These are going to act as your count-in.
As soon as the loop returns to Start (Bar 1), click on the loop icon to turn loop off
Your EZ drummer bar numbers will now line up with your sheet music bar numbers.

You should be able to do something similar with EZ Keys.

    Hi Bob.

Did your request for the Bars offset ever get implemented? I totally agree with you and its quite obvious, and simple what you are asking for. I don’t understand why there was so much resistance, or telling you how you should go about setting up your timeline. I want this feature too (For SD3) as I like my first verse chord to start on beat 1 bar 1, and prefer negative bar count in, rather than starting on Bar 3 in SD3. It makes it easier to count and edit when doing even bars, verses, communicating with musicians as to which bar the chorus is etc..

Crazy how unkind these folks have been over a simple Yes or No question.

Funny, just saw this post for the first time. All these years I have dealt with this bar count mismatch and never thought it was a problem. Just the way things had to be done.  But it appears this should have, could have, been done in a more EZ way.  Just an example of a great program (heck we have all been using this for years) which has not gotten any love from the developers to move it beyond version 1.
