Here’s what I’m doing – a thank you in advance to whomever can help me….
I have a logic track loaded with SD3 as the software instrument.
When SD3 comes up – I can tap to find, choose loops, play them from within the plugin – no issues.
I find a loop that I want. (In this case Nirs N.Y Vol 1 / Straight 4/4 Hats open)
I have a sound library loaded (In this case Dream Pop EZX is loaded into my SD3 program **not EZDrummer**)
When I listen to the loop from within the plugin, sounds great. All the effects are there.
When I drag the loop from within SD3 into Logic Pro X, The beat is there, the correct samples play, but the effects are completely missing from the sound.
I can not for the life of me understand why! Any help is appreciated… any directions you might have for me – please be sort of detailed. I’m a newbie.
Thank you.
Hi,
this sounds very strange indeed. I can come up with a few theories but the easiest way would be if you ZIP archive your logicx project file (no audio or subfolders) and attach it to a post here, so I may have a look at it.
OK?

Hi John,
I have saved the Logic project, and with only 1 midi track / plugin – it came to 5.5 megabytes. That’s a small file! But when attaching it to the post it says… Error! The file is too big.
I zipped it down to 4.3 Megabytes …. still too big for the forum post. I attached a PDF of a screen shot showing that it won’t accept my file.
Want me to send it to you directly on email? I will need your email address.
Thanks,
Bill
Please see my post above…. there’s also more to the story I discovered:
So this leaves me with: Obviously there are no efx assigned our playing, UNLESS I’m playing the groove from within the SD3 browser. This leaves me to believe that Toontrack has perhaps applied what they think would be cool sounding effects as an example when playing from within the browser, but you’re not committed to those efx – nor do they auto load when loading the drum set, clicking on the drums, or dragging the loop.
If this is the case – I would love to know what effect is being “demo’ed” from within the SD3 browser when clicking the little play button next to the groove.
Still Baffled,
Bill
I found the issue! Get this…. it’s NOT an effects issue.
I started examining the differences between the loop playing within the groove finder versus the exact same loop being dragged into Logic.
It’s not the effects which are missing – it’s changing the MIDI note numbers when I drag it into Logic! Still baffled, but now I see what’s happening.
When I play the groove in SD3 – within the groove it plays two cymbals which are really distorted and have a long reverb / decay.
When I play the same loop I dragged into Logic, those two cymbals are played on the Octapad squares to the right of the drum set.
Now if anyone can help me as to why it’s changing the MIDI note numbers when I drag the loop… I would love a fix! Thanks!
Hi,
I have sent you a file request via email.
Meanwhile, could you please post a screen shot, displaying the entire SD3 interface and the Logic Tracks?
Please check if there is a MIDI Preset active on the MIDI In/E-drums settings page?

John

The midi note numbers are different (change) after dragging into the DAW.
There’s a green dot on the MIDI menu (on the bottom right edge) of SD3. This means that you have an enabled MIDI In/E-drums preset. This will change the incoming MIDI – but not the MIDI on the song track of SD3. Can this be the cause of changed MIDI note numbers?

I never came back to the forum because I figured out the solution… which I will share in a moment. I just wanted to thank everyone who offered their help along the way. Here’s what the issue is. If you set up midi e-drums in SD3, it re-maps the midi note numbers to your drum set. For instance, you buy a Roland V-drum kit and want to trigger SD3 with it. All you do is click on e-drums in SD3, then select your kit, and then SD3 re-maps the sounds to your drum pads… in essence changing the notes being played. Well…. if you have it set up to use with e-drums when SD3 opens, but you’re not playing on the kit, you decide to work with loops… the loop midi numbers get changed too… so when you drag it into your DAW, it’s triggering the wrong midi note numbers. It’s a bit of a pain in the ass to have to switch it on and off every time I want to go between my drum set and just clicking loops, but other than that… love SD3 – this is incredible software.

Thanked by: psumesgutnerWithout this feature though you would have to permanently map. I very rarely if ever use the loops but I have ran midi files at times and had to change. Without this feature it would be a pain.
