Firstly, I can’t see a forum search. Apologies if this has been asked before.
Whilst adding 3rd party midi patterns, and trying to get the Browser to display lists of patterns a certain way, I broke my EZD2 ‘database’ (ie. I got an error on the Search tab in the EZD2 interface). This was caused by renaming folders in the ‘Midi’ folder. I got it working again eventually by running the installers. I won’t be messing around with it like that anymore, but now I’ve experienced a little volatility, I’m interested in backing up the Search data/indexing if possible.
C:\ProgramData\Toontrack\EZdrummer\Database
Contains all the midiDB files for ToonTrack purchases. Corruption may be fixed by running the installer/updater.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrummer
This directory contains the ‘Midi’ folder for Toontrack purchased patterns. Toontrack folders in here must not be renamed!
The ‘Midi’ folder can also contain other compatible midi packs , which are added as a library automatically, and are listed as ‘3rd party’.
For other sources, I created a ‘User Libraries’ folder in this directory. These libraries are added in: Settings -> midi libraries -> Add folder…
C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Toontrack\EZdrummer
Contains ‘PresetsEZX’ and ‘User Midi’ folders. The ‘User Midi’ folder holds patterns I’ve edited, and is added as a library automatically.
When I add the above library folders to the Search (using the ‘include in search’ checkboxes), the content of the patterns is ‘processed’, but I can’t work out how these hundreds of thousands of midi files are being indexed and tagged. I would like to know, so that I might be able to restore the Search index/data if it ever gets corrupted. I take regular disk images, and can retrieve pre-corrupted files that way. But I need to know which files to restore.
Anyone have an idea how to repair the Search data/indexing?
Thanks.

TLDR; When you add a library to the search feature, the files are processed and added to a database.
I would like to know how to back up and restore that database.

Hi,
it’s easier than that: when it comes to the Toontrack MIDI, it’s as simple as going to Menu > Advanced > Restore Factory MIDI Database.
Next, you would go into Settings > MIDI Libraries and tick those folders you wish to include and they will be scanned and added to the database.
This will take far less time than actually navigating to the location of a manually created backup and copy it to the correct location.

When my database got corrupted (admittedly when I was editing the names of the folders in the Midi directory) and I got an error in the search tab, the ‘Restore Factory MIDI Database’ did not fix the error, and I couldn’t get rid of the error until I had reinstalled EZD2.
So I was thinking that if the database is a file held somewhere, I might be able to repair a corruption in the future by replacing it with the latest version from my weekly backup disk image, rather than have to reinstall and set everything up again.
There is a 300mb midiDB file in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Toontrack\EZdrummer.
I think that is what I was looking for.
