I have a phaser loaded on a drum channel. I need to be able to automate turning the effect on and off. I cannot figure out how to automate this. I have even tried putting the effect on a bus but I see no way to automate the on off or bypass button even with macros.
Right click the Volume control on the Phaser effect and select Bind to CC. Select the first available value in the list, but you can select any.
Now when you go into the Grid Editor, and press the drop down (left of the curve edit area), you’ll have the CC that controls the Phazer Volume in that list.
Side note – it’s often better to automate effects by changing their Mix volume, any other control that changes their effect on the audio, or bypassing them, instead of turning on/off, since the latter can cause some audio glitches, latency issues etc. This is a general tip and doesn’t only apply to SD3!
