Not sure if this is what you’re trying to do. Tutorials how to import drum tracks.

Thanks for the reply but yes, I’ve gone way beyond those simple instructions!

From your post I’m not sure if the MIDI is in SD3 or Studio One. I would get the MIDI into Studio One and drag it up to the tempo track then export that again – that should bring the correct tempo info into the file.  Export it out then import it into SD3.

    Hi all,

In Presonus Studio One, I have set the tempo of a song from an original stereo audio track. I then create a tempo track and the tempo varies (flutuates) in speed according to the changes of the tempo in the original old recording. The click track in Studio One perfectly alligns with the song audio, following any speed flutuations. I have then extracted the drums from this master track using Izotope RX. I then drag and drop the drum audio file in to Superior Drummer 3 Tracker and create the different individual drums (Kick, Snare, Hihat, Toms and Cymbals. I then export these to seperate midi files.

Whether I import the drum midi file as a whole, or each file as seperate drums, after alligning the start of the first hit with the first hit of the master song although the file looks to occupy pretty much the correct length of the song, the tempo is out with the Studio One click track (the original imported audio drums are perfectly in sync throughout the entire song). It starts pretty much OK, but then drifts out of time. I have tried all sorts in Superior Drummer, such as syncing the tempo with host and not etc. The tempo in Superior drummer looks set as 120BPM, but I don’t know if that is relevant. I can’t set it to the correct starting tempo (133), although I did try that and the file was shorter than the song after importing the midi in to S1.

Am I missing something here? I also tried quantising the files after importing into Studio One hoping it will rearrange the beats in to the correct grooves, according to the differing tempo points set by the tempo track, but it does not work. How can I make sure the tempo of the drums is correct and not altered by Superior Drummer? I would expect the extracted midi notes to appear within the file according to when they appear in the audio, thus keeping the timing correct?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Before dragging the MIDI into Studio One from SD3, do the tracks in SD3 play properly within the SD3 plug-in itself?

Interesting that the plug-in is at 120bpm while the session is at 133bpm, Studio One “broadcasts” the tempo so the plug-in should be set by it.

Are the tracks in studio one set to beats in the inspector in the timebase slot? If it’s set to seconds that could be an issue.
