Hi guys,
Just recently downloaded latest SD3 upgrades, and have noticed I’m now getting red error message at bottom of pane saying “Audio engine inactive, check your audio device” when changing drum voices e.g. changing from a Ludwig Coliseum to Tama Brass? I’ve not had this issue before, and whilst the message is coming up, all samples loaded are working fine?
Any suggestions as to why this is suddenly happening would be cool!
Thanks
Dave

Thanks very much for suggestions and that you want to help me here
i have now tried to play a groove from the standalone and dont even turned on the td30.
AUDIO ENGINE INACTIVE appears anyway, now and then, so i guess it can rule out the usb problem as well. my uad x6 is connected to a thunderbolt 3 cable and comes in to an addin card tb3 gigabyte. the thing is i havent noticed any problem from within cubase when i use SD3.
It happens only in standalone mode
When “audio engine inactive” appears, what happens if you go to Audio/MIDI Setup and “reapply” the current device? (If ASIO, you can click on the ASIO button, then close the ASIO window and click Apply.) Does that make it work again?

Thanks again for reply
No it doesnt help. My problem i have reported here is in my studio setup. I also have a smaller setup at home. Its an intel x299 MB 7820x pc with windows 11 64bit and the studio pc is an x570 amd 3950x pc with windows 10 64bit. “2 different platforms. But soundcard is UAD soundcards at both places. a twin soundcard at home and an x6 in studio. At home i have not tried the standalone app until now when i tried to just use it to find out if i got problem here as well. And guess what, i got this problem “AUDIO ENGINE INACTIVE” here too when i loading a groove and play it for a while. It happens now on both places in 2 different pc:s, but only in standalone app. Its not always directly, sometimes it can take 5 minutes and sometimes almost imideatley
Could it be something about this app and uad drivers maybe? Maybe someone out there who have similar setup can try and report if one experiance the same problem. I would be very glad if someone could help to solve this problem

I use acid Pro. Superior drummer 3 works fine as a standalone and is recognized by acid and comes up within the program. However I do get the audio engine inactive message within acid. And you cannot use it. My audio device works fine with every other program on the computer and as I said Superior drummer 3 works as a standalone as well.

Hi,
not familiar with the program the last 20 years or so but which driver type are you using in ACID?
Have you un-checked the ‘Close Audio and MIDI Ports…’ in the General Preferences?

The setting you spoke of I did look into and it was unchecked. So I tried it both ways checked and unchecked with the same result. I’m not sure what you mean by what type of driver I’m using but I’m using a focusrite Scarlet 2I2 second generation audio interface aois USB if that helps. Like I said the Standalone works perfectly fine and I have no other audio issues

The VST3 support in ACID Pro has some issues. I suggest using the VST2 of SD3 there for now.

I really appreciate this help but I am not a tech and have no idea what you just said to me. LOL I’ll need to walk through or at least a navigational hint of how to find these settings
When you choose which instrument to use, can you see two Superior Drummer 3 in the list/tree of plug-ins? If so, one is the plug-in format VST2 and the other is VST3. Choose VST2.

So this finally worked for me. My DAW is Acid Pro 10 Suite and and was giving me the same issue. I tried more or less the same thing by going to View, check ✔️ Plug-in Manager, then going down to my explore bar to Configure VST. From there you need set the pathway to your .dll “superior drummer 3.dll” depending on what drive you installed it on if you have more than 1 drive other than C: drive. Also this worked because superior drummer was showing up as (VST 3) at first so when I went to set the pathway for the .dll a second vst showed up that didn’t have (VST 3) and that worked as my plugin. No more “audio engine inactive”.
FYI stand alone app worked for me just fine, it didn’t work as a plugin until now. I appreciate your post from 2019. 😮💨
