Open up midi environment in Logic Pro x (Press option while clicking Window, its 2/3rd’s way down the list) In environment window click new and click Mapped Instrument. As I hit each drum on my kit It shows in the Mapped instrument window, I then right click the highlighted blue note and type in the drum name. After you do that for all the drums, Drag the Mapped Instrument to your summing track. I did Multi Track output and did a track stack, which creates a summing track (I named my summing track Drum Kit) Then open piano roll editor and the names should be there. You’ll have to slide vertical zoom to the right to see the names.

Thanks VSDOOKIE I’ll give that a go even though I’ve managed to steer clear of the ENVIRONMENT all these years so far!
