Running SD3 either standalone or within DAW – audio output stops intermittently and I have to pull up audio settings and reset to get it going again.
Also, when this happens, not only does the audio stop, so does the animations/timeline. Hitting play does nothing in the track or even the browser.
If it stops in the middle of playing a sample, the cursor or time indicator halts where it’s at.
Once I hit reset, everything is fine for about 5 or 10 minutes – it’s all very intermittent.
EZD2 and SD2 never did this.
Windows 10 / i7 4/ 24G RAM
ASIO w/Apollo 8 Silverface/Apollo 16 mkII
Any idea what the issue is?
Hi,
I am running the Apollo Twin Mk II (on Mac, though) and have never experienced what you are describing. Are you updated on you Apollo software/drivers?
If you select any other audio driver (internal audio interface or similar), does it happen as well?
When you get this behaviour inside your DAW, which DAW are we talking about?

John

Thanks for the reply,
Yes – I’ve got that latest Apollo version.
I don’t have any other interface and no PC speakers – the only audio driver the Apollo and SD works with is ASIO on my system. I don’t get any output at all using MME or Windows Sound.
I do have another laptop running EZD2 and it uses MME with the built-in speakers.
I’m using Pro Tools 12.8
My Apollos are using TB, not FW if that makes a difference.
Hi,
Just updated to SD3 from SD2 and updated Protools HD from 12.7 to 12.8.1.
I am experiencing similar issue as described above in the standalone version of SD3.
When selecting ASIO and the Avid ASIO driver in the control panel of SD3 the driver is not loaded resulting in no sound and slow interface (as described above for Apollo). I have verified that other stand alone instrument can access the driver without any problems.
Is there a setting that I have missed?
Never got an official answer or solution but the issue seems to have been resolved with the latest SD3 Update.
i’ve got a completely fresh installation of SD3 and whilst the windows and direct sond output drivers work, they ahve latency that’s too great for to be of use.
Using asio and selecting it as the sound option, results in zero audio.
In addition, when I use the windows and others why is everything so quiet?

What audio interface are you using specifically?

fixed the asio issue at least. In settings, (asio) i had to disable the spdif output as it was conflicting with the speaker out
now, how can I get it louder? laptop volume max, SD3 volume max…
Louder is relative, depends on how you are connecting things.
I’m guessing here but if you are running a mini stereo tele cable out of your laptop’s headphone/line output jack into something that needs +4dB operating level, it is going to sound weak unless what you are running that cable into has got some way of gaining or changing the input level to -10dB.
In the SD3 mixer, you can put a limiter on the Stereo output you are using to get a bit more gain.
