Tap to find is great etc. I have most of the midi packs but is there any software that can take, say, a recorded bass line and create drum groove around it??? Even basic MIDI would be helpful so I can drag it into the TAP and FIND area of SD3 to locate more complex pieces…
I’m in LOGIC.
Thx
Considering that you are already using Logic, the Drummer track works very well with SD3. All you really need to do is create a Drummer track and replace the drums with SD3 using the Drum Designer mapping. Select a basic style for the genre you are playing (or you can get creative and experiment) and then set the Follow Track checkbox in the Drummers property box. Set the track to your desired audio track and Drummer will adjust to your track.
Alternatively, Jamstix 4 is now available for MacOS. I haven’t yet tried it (but going to, to compare), but there is a free version you can download: https://www.rayzoon.com/#free_version

The MAC version is Beta right now and needs a Paid version to try…
Yeah… the follow helps but not great. Thanks for that though!
Well, so it is. Serves me right for not clicking on any links. Perhaps, if they posted that on their site right off the bat, I would have at least been aware and not turned off by their practice. I was even willing to shell out $100 for it. Their loss!
Follow Track within Drummer is excellent. You can fine tune it to your audio or MIDI track and combined with SD3, gives a real decent performance track. I’m often syncing it to a bass groove that I put down to match up with it and have gotten more than satisfactory results. It’s also great when I’m putting down a guitar track using smart tempo since Drummer will now follow not only the rhythm of my guitar, but also variations in tempo.
That’s just scratching the surface.

I use Windows, and have been a Rayzoon Jamstix user for some time now. Well, let’s talk about it a little: Jamstix can be used both as a full drum VSTi (it has its own sampled drumkits) or as a MIDI drum generator for any other Drum VSTi. Depending on the number of expansion packs you own, you get different “drummers”, each one has its quirks and “personal” nuances which can be adjusted.
Jamstix can be made either to respond to audio input or just create a structure of sections (intro/verse/pre-chorus/chorus/bridge/outro, etc…). You can make each section as long in bars as you like. Jamstix will jam according to your preferences & drummer chosen.
When it becomes available for Mac, I will talk about it. For now, I can do much of that in Logic. The only thing we’re at the mercy of is having more drummers at the moment.

So if you have a guitar and bass track say, Jamstix will listen to it and come up with a drum track?
Well, you’d have to set your beat preferences… but it will jam over those when receiving audio. Get into the downloads area at Rayzoon site. Download the manual and the bottom of page 59 you’ll see the “Jamming with Jamstix” section.
Man, Jamstix….. showing my age to some degree!
I gave up on all that stuff personally, I either use a “so so” groove with SD and then personalize it, or just bang in the result and season it with the tools in S1.
Going over to the jamstix site right now to see what the hubbub is.
Eh, 50 bucks to jump up to the new version? I’ll get back to it after a couple drinks 😀 Had no idea it was even still around … could be fun.
