I haven’t bought the upgrade yet due to the fact that to be honest I wasn’t all that thrilled with the lack of midi progressions in the base version of EZ Keys since I planned to use it originally to play 4 chords I really liked and then have EZ keys create a playing style for me. Which it does, although half of the playing styles sound a bit dated for my taste and wasn’t thrilled to see the extensive amount of extra midi packs one would have to buy for different genres (probably a bit my fault for not doing more research, but I got really excited) at $30 a pop, I get that they do go on sale, but you figure at the price tag I would have expected a tad bit more of a different genre selection other than the classic stuff that’d you’d hear back in the 60-70’s (not an insult) and personally there’s a bit too much going on in half of them for my taste.
So with that being said will this new Midi Library that’s advertised in EZKeys 2 will it have actually branched off into different more up to date genres? Not that there’s anything wrong with older genres, I love me some classic rock, blues, funk, I just have no desire to produce it. I’m talking about that basic, pop, trap, hip-hop, edm, folk, new age, lofi, experimental stuff that most people hate because it’s a tad simple but I enjoy it.
I do see that there are similar midi packs for some of those genres at the moment but I’d also feel a little dumb to buy those if some of them are included in the upgrade to EZKeys 2 or is it just the nature of the game to end up spending a lot of money to complete libraries?
Apologies if this sounds like a rant, this is more of a personal problem rather than an issue with the software.
Thank you!
get it it's amazing, you will not be disappointed it rocks

Thanked by: Robert Garcia, nawai and TREVOR TINBERGAdmittedly, I had trouble really using the last iteration of EZkeys, due to the older set-up that I wasn’t used to. But I did buy MIDI packs when they went on sale, despite whatever genre they were, in anticipation that it would be getting an upgrade at some point down the road.
After using this new iteration it for a few minutes, I can easily say that the prior purchases are entirely worth it. I’m going to be using this a lot more solely due to the fact it’s more like EZdrummer 3 and EZbass in its usability!

Got it before the presale ended, pretty impressed with it so far for sure. Need to dig deeper but I am loving the playing styles and the HUGE amount of new features. Plus this new piano sounds amazing. It’s definitely an upgrade. I mean I only bought EZ Keys like a month ago and then they released this new version so essentially I’ve wasted about $45 bucks since I bought the EZ bundle originally (so I didn’t waste that much since I got it semi-cheaper) so wasn’t happy about that. BUT I tend to do that all the time anyway and that’s not Toontracks fault but am satisfied with this upgrade so it’s whatever.
Probably will get some of the midi packs when they go on sale since now it seems like I’d get more use out of them. Thanks for all the feedback though!
Wish you all the best in your productions 🙂

Thanked by: Robert Garcia and TREVOR TINBERGThe new 2.0 EZ Keys is big . Also they have “separated” the chord from the style so you can now swap those in and out . EX : 8 bar pop from ezkeys 1 ; on the 4th and 8th bar swap in a different style ; change the chords , now chop up the 4th and 8th bar into the hits you want .(EZK2 even puts a chord there for you) Also you said they “over play” ; agree, anytime you get a solo musician we do that . So chop off the pieces of a bar that are too busy . Then go it the Grid editor and shift it , stretch it till its what ya want . I could go on but need to get back at it lol .
