If I want some over-played ridiculous pattern I’m in luck. But a simple double shot snare pattern? Nope. A groove that would cause me to laugh a drummer out of the room? Tons of them. But a laid back Boom-Chick-Boom-Boom-Chick? Nothing.
Is there some “groove files for people who want subtle drum grooves” library I can buy because these “8000 drum patterns played by real drummers in real situations” that EZD2 advertises? I wouldn’t work with any of those drummers. Do different EZ Packs have dfferent grooves? I gravitate towards the more organic sounds like Indie Folk, Nashville and Americana. But nothing so far in the groove files resembles anything that those styles of drummers would play. Is there a chance that some of the midi files to some of my EZ Packs didn’t make the trip?
It would be surprising simce the installation process is so drop-dead easy with these products. That, of course, was a joke.
It seemed like this would be a pretty helpful writing tool but so far, I’ve wasted dozens of hours, still without resolution and what I HAVE gotten to work, kinda blows. I’m starting to realize that if there isn’t a return policy, this will be yet another wasted chunk of considerable cash given to toontrack.
There are “simple” patterns included. For example – [EZdrummer 2 Modern/Vintage] > [Ballad – Straight 4/4] > [Verse]. That folder, for example, contains (according to me) pretty basic drum patterns. If you tap a basic 4/4 *K S K K S* into Tap2Find you’ll find other similar grooves. If you find a groove to be too busy, perhaps because it plays the crash as power hand instead of the hi-hat, drag it down to the track and change power hand, change the amount on some drums…

Thanks Henrik. Im still not finding the simple patterns. That’s my point. Tap-2-find isnt finding high percentage matches even on simple grooves. Is there a way to check to see if something happemed to the grooves at install (which is one of the worst install precesses I’ve ever seen)?
I attached a simple kick snare kick kick snare MIDI file. Drag it to your Tap2Find drop zone and you should see some 100% matches.
I also attached a screenshot of the results you should get (those are only from the EZdrummer 2 core library).
