AFAIK the EZX installers need OS 10.5 to run. I don’t think there is a workaround for that.

yes, there is: running X.5.8, I’ve installed everything on an external disk, and now EZdrummer will happily use that when booted from my MacBook running X.4.11

sure you can bypass installer routines with such tricks, but it remains that Americana is unsupported under 10.4.x, as it is build both for EZdrummer and a version of Superior that will give you grief in that environment.

… it is unlikely you will also be able to install or run future updates too – so you have to ask yourself if you really want to do that and ignore the product specifications, which are there for a reason 😉

yet it’s what is written on the back of my Americana box: system requirements, OS X 10.4; probably a mistake…

If you want to install the original boxed version on a Mac running 10.4 it will work as stated on the tin. If, on the other hand, you want to install the latest download version, 10.5 is required to install, also as stated on the tin (website).

Time marches forward, software installers printed to discs do not.

that’s weird: my account page still doesn’t signal any update of the Americana drum set…

yet if the download version is actually different, it would be nice to read the list of changes and improvements: are there any release notes?

The full download version is different from the original boxed version insomuch as the installer works in the latest OS versions. That is why the system requirements have changed and are listed under the system requirements on the website. Sound-wise, there is no change.
