under the ‘TEMPO: 1/2x|1x|2x buttons at the bottom (center) of the EZdrummer interface, there is a ‘MIDI’ label that should light up (blue) when MIDI events are received, is this the case?

Other than that, there are tools you can install to verify that a MIDI stream is entering the computer and registered by the interface, but I would have to research the easiest to use for this purpose as they tend to be fairly advanced tools.

The bottom line though, while there could be a problem with Toontrack solo, it seems more likely to me that if the Trigger I/O appears as a valid MIDI device but the ‘MIDI’ activity LED does not respond, this could be a fault with the module (the fact that you see activity on the front panel only indicates that it is registering the pad triggers being hit, and is not any indication that the MIDI output is operating properly).

    Hi,

The ‘MIDI’ label does not light up when I trigger the drums despite showing up successfully in the USB device manager. Any further thoughts on how to test the TriggerIO?

    Hello,

I verified that the Alesis Trigger IO is successfully sending MIDI input to the computer. I used Bome SendEX (http://www.bome.com/products/sendsx). When I hit the eDrum, numbers started to appear in the “Midi In” window. So I’m assuming that the Alesis Trigger IO is working fine.

However, I’m still unable to get it to trigger sound in EZdrummer. There must be some plug-in or driver or software update that will get this to work.

    I am running Windows 7, 64-bit.

    Please help.

    Thank you

perhaps you should upload a screenshot of solo with the MIDI devices dialog up… maybe we can identify something bizarre from it (just maybe though).

    Hi,

Can you please explain what you would like the image to show? I’ve attached an image of Bome SendSX running alongside EZdrummer, which shows that SendSX is receiving “MidiIn” signals from the triggerIO, but EZdrummer is not registering the input.

Here are the steps I’m taking to use EZdrummer. Please let me know if I’m missing anything:

    1. Plug in TriggerIO
    2. Start Toontrack solo 64
    3. select EZdrummer as the “drummer”
    4. Verify that TriggerIO is selected under Options-> MIDI devices
    5. Change Options->controller to “E-drums”

After doing this, I try to trigger sound by hitting an e-drum, but EZdrummer has no response at all. If I use the mouse to click the drums in EZdrummer sound is produced.

Please help as this is becoming extremely frustrating and I have been troubleshooting this for almost 2 weeks. I feel that the TriggerIO is functioning properly, but EZdrummer is not registering the input.

    Status: online Hi,

I have an RET Percussion edrum kit which uses an Alesis Trigger IO. I am running Windows 7 (64) and am using Toontrack Solo to host EZdrummer.

I installed the most recent versions of Solo/EZdrummer, which seem to run successfully. However, I am unable to get my edrums to trigger sound in EZdrummer.

I have set Options->controller->E-drums and the ‘TriggerIO’ is selected as the MIDI hardware driver. The Alesis Trigger IO is responding (the lights on the IO turn on when I hit the drumhead triggers), and the Trigger IO installed successfully on the computer, and I know that it used to work as the previous owner successfully used EZdrummer via Garageband.

Can you please offer some suggestions to help me figure this out? I think the first step is to ensure that the triggerIO is sending MIDI data to the computer, but I am a complete newbie and don’t know how to do this.

    Thanks so much.

    Hi,

could you please post a screen shot of your MIDI Device setup in Toontrack solo?

Hi John – thanks for writing. Can you clarify what you mean by “MIDI Device setup”? Do you mean a screenshot of the TriggerIO selected under Options->MIDI devices and Options->controller set to “E-drums”?

Hi, I’m attaching screenshots of the MIDI IN, Controller selections and a device manager. when i hit the edrums, EZdrummer doesn’t react (no midi input). this is despite a MIDI IN software showing that the Alesis TriggerIO is successfully sending MIDI IN.

    MIDI IN

That box to the left needs to be ‘checked’.

that worked — thank you! I now need to get work on the bad latency and mapping issues. Can you please point me to the right forum for this information?

Latency is inherent in any digital system.

For the lowest possible latency you need good ASIO drivers and a pro soundcard.

    What soundcard are you using?

If you’re trying to use the built in soundcard you’re not going to get a low enough latency. You can try installing ASIO4ALL drivers.

As for mapping, EZdrummer doesn’t have any mapping capabilities so any changes would need to happen in the drum brain if possible.

    Hi,

I installed the ASIO4ALL drivers. Should I always select Audio Device->Device Type ASIO when I use EZdrummer.

Also, what should I set the Latency Buffer to be?

My audio driver is “Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD” — is that what you meant by soundcard?
