The short answer is yes you can for both.

For adding an kit piece, there is a drop-down in the upper left corner that has “Add instrument” or something like that.

to route a kit piece to custom channels, right-click the instrument and select “Route instrument microphones”

    Hi,

if you click ‘Add Instrument’ and e.g. add a 9×13″ Gretsch Rack Tom (the same as in position 1) in the empty position 2, in the ‘Gretsch Default’ Clean Kit, it will automatically be assigned to the correct microphone channels in the Mixer. Just tune it down a bit and hit Process. The same applies to if you would load the same Tom in position 3.

Had this been a preset where there were EQ, Comp, etc in the Mixer; you just alt/option+click+drag those over to the empty slots in your other channel.
    The same goes for Sends.

If you add Instruments from other libraries, the Microphone assignment tries to automatically route what was sampled in the new Instrument’s library to matching microphones in the current library you’re working in.
Just right-click the new Instrument and go to More > Route Instrument Microphones to check, modify or add microphone assignments.

If you want to create a new channel for e.g. a Ride, you go to Route Instrument Microphones, click the ‘Close’ microphone drop-down menu and scroll all the way down to ‘Create New Channel’
