Adding extra drums to a kit

If you`re using a kit which only has a Bass drum, Snare , 1 Rack Tom and 1 Floor Tom, is there a way of adding an extra Rack Tom or Floor Tom  ?  Obviously you can make a note of what each instrument is and then add them into a larger kit , but then you get all the mixer settings and effects from a different kit.  I`m new to SD3 so bare withme !!

Hi,

if there’s an empty position in the kit, you just select it and right-click to see the drop-down and then either Search for instrument (Alt+R) or select one in the list.

If you wish to add a new Instrument, you click the ‘Add Instrument’ button in the upper left of the Drums window, then you can filter out unwanted instruments in the Search window and ‘Add Instrument’.

When it is added, you can right-click it and go to ‘More > Route Instrument Microphones’ to make sure the close and bleed are routed as wish them to be.
